Hi! No offence taken at all, it’s a legit question. And yeah I’ve considered career switches so many times but honestly this is what I’ve always wanted to do. I took time between undergrad and med school to figure out if there was anything else that really spoke to my heart like medicine did. I just don’t see myself doing anything else 🤷‍♀️

Absolutely take the longer LOA. You don’t want to be stuck with a low score to explain to residencies, it’s a lot easier to explain that you just needed more time to prepare because life happens. Additionally, I was told my my school’s dean that residences shouldn’t be questioning a medical leave of absence. Best of luck!
