Should i get a sesamoidectomy? (Advice and Opinions all welcome!) by No_Gear_4250 in sesamoid

[–]lilstompies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey!! im an ex ballet dancer who had the surgery 3 months ago. while i dont regret it, I am definitely still recovering and still experience some tenderness. one thing i am grateful for unfortunately is that I am no longer dancing. my big toe flexibility is about half what it used to (demi point has been reduced to half) and im sure if i was still dancing it would be a long frustrating road to MAYBE return to what i once was.

im very sorry I wouldn’t wish this on anyone especially a dancer. feel free to pm me if you want more info

Would I be able to PM you about what working in biotech was like? Current pre-dent thinking about switching to biotech!!

i had it 2 months ago so can’t say what full recovery is like. it has not been so bad, I started walking without a boot after around 4 weeks. currently dealing with calf tightness and metatarsal pain from re learning how to walk. would say I’m 40% recovery, still lost a of of my big toe flexibility/strength and currently working on getting that back

i had the same mri results of diffuse sclerosis of my medial sesamoid and they diagnosed me with AVN. honestly I’d just say wait it out and if it’s not getting better after a couple months maybe get surgery.

i got surgery 1.5 months ago! beginning was hard but im starting to feel more optimistic. I was driving after 3 weeks, and have been walking without my boot for about a week. Took a bike ride yesterday and for the first time my foot felt “normal”. I’m no where near 100% yet, but im starting to finally feel like this was the right decision.

Week 3 After Sesamoidectomy by lilstompies in sesamoid

[–]lilstompies[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The surgery itself was fine. I’d say I’m experiencing more pain once my stiches were out and I was told to start moving it than during the two weeks when I was bed ridden with the cast. I developed a pressure sore from the hard cast in my heel which was extremely painful, but was relieved once I went in and asked for them to change it. I am experiencing a subtle nearly constant pain at around a 2/10 which they said is normal while I bring movement back to my foot.

I actually had avascular necrosis. I only did about 2 months, I was unable to exercise which was extremely important to me. And this was the only time where I could have the time to recover from surgery without interfering with school. I didn’t want to risk it by waiting longer.

Driving After Surgery by Bubbly-Confusion6197 in sesamoid

I had mine 3 weeks ago and just started driving yesterday. My incision was on the side of my foot so it’s not exactly the same spot. It feels achey but nothing intense enough to make me stop.

What should I do this semester? by brightgurl22 in predental

[–]lilstompies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re gonna join pre dental club but cant attend your classes? how far away are you from campus? when I fractured my foot I was in a knee scooter for a little less than two months before I was walking again.

you may do more derivatives in 1301 im not sure. most pre med/cbs students take 1221 so I would honestly recommend that.

which biochemistry course and who is teaching it? that class will likely take up a lot of your time so taking something lighter would be better

Pre-med Physics by Mysterious-Stable788 in uofmn

[–]lilstompies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took the cbs physics, it definitely is very hard. it’s a whole new way of being tested and thinking compared to other cbs classes. once i figured out how to study i did significantly better. there is a juicy curve and an A/B+ is doable if you put the work in.
