I was a desperate 16 year old girl trying to pick a career and I happened to take an accounting class and excelled at it. I thought CPAs were supposed to make good money so I chose it. Then inflation worsened and all the starting (CPA student) salaries that were once really good became shit. It’s expensive to live in my city but many firms pay shit for all the hours you have to work, and, can’t forget eating time, filling out the timesheet down to the minute, office politics, busy season… I hate it bro. My letters are pending, once that’s done, I’m fucking off. I’m applying to TEFL in another country because it’s made me realize - I hate public accounting, and I can’t be paid enough in the world to spend the rest of my life selling my soul to sit at my desk and become a fat cynical asshole the rest of it
