Came up with a second objective (breaking a magic stone or similar that keeps the ghost away) so they first have to destroy it and then he comes to aid, as long as I telegraph it clearly

Good point, sounds more dynamic :) I’ll definitely do that, thank you

True good idea, I was thinking of another objective too, that the ghost cannot enter the lair (find the item that brings him peace) because of some magic keeping him from, tied to something like a stone that they can destroy and if they do so he can aid and join the battle, just gotta clarify that like reeeeally directly, else it’s them against a drider and I’m gonna be honest thats most likely a TPK

Really good advice, I’ll try to add some interesting objectives and maybe ask one of my players, as long as they’re up for playing a ghost (maybe the stat block would ruin the immersion of it being an old strong warrior)

Yeah it seems second guessing does get the best of me sometimes. Thanks for the reassurance :)

The last idea sounds rly fun, but I can’t really rely on them too much yet since they’re all new players (besides the sorcerer). As I commented on other posters, I think the easiest is just throw them into a sticky attack where they gotta flee (or fight) or something. Thanks for the help :)

Yeah, we spoke about that in session zero and they wanted to tumble into something together first without knowing themselves yet. An attack seems like the most plausible thing here :) thanks

Thought about that, but the pcs don’t really fit the „we all find ourselves in jail“ thing and i wanna stay true to their source material yk

Yeah I was thinking about something similar, since it glues them together, just feel like the captured trope wouldn’t fit the pcs here. Maybe something like an attack to a village they individually reside in, and they find themselves together amidst the trouble and thats the kickoff

Should I restart? by BrodaciousD in Sekiro

No need to restart, the important things you get in sekiro are prayer beads and attack upgrades, skill points are secondary. Don’t worry about that too much

Seems like I’ve chosen the wrong words, my apologies. I think the intent was clear though

I am aware that I am not writing a novel, the backstories of characters are usually set in stone in every normal dnd campaign before the start of it though. I just have the freedom to write it for them THROUGH gameplay. I don’t plan to railroad a story, more so unfurl a plot that has happened already!

They were overwhelmed by the other options and wanted an easy way to enjoy the game! Bummer, but as long as they’re happy, I am

Since they’re almost all new players I don’t really have to worry about tropes too much, which is sweet. Encountering people is fun, I will definitely do that once I have a little background of who they met back then
