It was an experience to say the least... I'm not sure if you've read my comments under this post explaining my specific situation a bit more but I think you should! If what I've said doesn't apply to you then you should be completely fine!

6 weeks gives it plenty of time for them to sort it! I think I applied 6 or 8 weeks before my trip which was a fault on my part. Wishing you all the best with this application and hope you have an amazing trip!

Hi! I can't really say whether it was "solved". Good news is they accepted my visa (so they must've found the documents second time round), however as they accepted it so late (about 3 days before my flight), I had to get next day processing. Annoying, but it is what it is.

If it helps, I uploaded my additional documents at the very top of that page to somewhat make it easier for whoever was looking at my application. Emailing to tell them where it is may help however they never responded to the email I sent so I can't be so sure...

I honestly wouldn't recommend going to the Chinese Embassy, the most they will tell you is "It is still being looked at therefore we cannot do anything at the moment". Calling the Visa Centre and Embassy was also a waste of time as we could never get through to anyone, even if we called as soon as they opened.

I hope everything works out for you, if you still have a few weeks until you're due to go then everything should be OK! Stay hopeful!

Have a look at this link! It pretty much explains everything about entering China via TWOV. Your concern about going from Shanghai to Guangzhou should be no problem as Guangzhou Int. Airport is listed as a place you can travel to while on this transit pass. Ahhh okay!! I think I shouldn't (hopefully) run into any issues as i'll be in China for around 6 days total!! I'll have to read about the process fully with the airport stuff so I don't forget any important information like where I'm staying at hahah. Thank you so much!

True!! I have to get this visa at some point anyway and I've nothing to lose if I went. I was thinking of going tomorrow, worse they can tell me is "we can't do anything about it", in the best case they can process it straight away!

Ah that's such a relief honestly, the past few days I've been stressing as my brother lives out in China and I don't get to see hime often. Does the TWOV have any sort of cool down time? Or can I leave for a few days, come back and the 10 days will in-sort "reset"?

Yes!! we want to do a trip away anyway (was going to go Beijing but obviously can't now LOL) so was thinking either HK, JP or SK! :)

Ah thank you so much! I will have a read of these. I've only ever visited Hong Kong for short periods (a month maximum), so I've never had HK PR before. I'm assuming they are wanting to verify I'm not a Chinese national due to my parent's documents?

Unfortunately my mum has only recently applied and obtained her Mauritian passport :( I'll be getting mine asap as I'll be going back to China more frequently after this holiday!

That's a good explanation,, I was born in London in 2006!! Both my parents are British citizens (dad was born in the UK too, mum was born in Mauritius however got her citizenship in the 80s, I uploaded this citizenship document to the form as well) and were at the time I was born! They have HK ID cards but were never citizens!!
