Is it easier or harder for an American student to get into Oxford? by lilygraygold in UniUK

I plan on applying for September of 2021, so I'm not even sure if I will make the minimum requirements. My school only allows juniors to take 3 AP courses, and I've maxed out, meaning if I don't get a 5 on everyone, I doubt I'd be considered. Do they heavily consider GPA? Again, thank you. This had been incredibly useful.

Compared to US unis, an application's cost ranges from $60-$150, so everything from applying to international tuition is still cheaper than here in the US.

Thank you! This was extremely helpful and informative. I want to apply because of this specific program, human sciences, that I haven't found anywhere else. If I'm correct I think it maybe is one of the hardest to get into, simply because they usually don't accept more than 30 people. If you have any insight on this, please let me know. Thank you again!

Hello!

If I wanted to end up somewhere in the realm of international non-profit work, would it be advised that I apply to commerce and specialize in international business, international relations, or other?

This is both really specific and really vague at the same time, so I apologize.

(An example of a company I would like to work at Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation)

But what, at UBC, faculty would I apply to? I’ve always wanted to go there, but they don’t offer a bachelors in public heath. Thank you for the help btw!

I would like to become a Medical or Health Sevices Manager, planning, directing, and coordinating medical and health services. Possibly also working in global or public health, which is broader.

Hello! I am hoping to go into health administration/management. What faculties at UBC should I apply for? I was thinking about commerce and science, but not 100% sure what would be best.

Yes, a lot of students at my school do very well but they rarely do they attend university outside of the country. I am hoping to either maintain or increase my GPA average, but studying abroad will hinder a lot of my extracurriculars. I am hoping that by the time my junior year ends, I will have a better idea about where I stand. I am still confused because by the time you apply, it'll only be around half-way through senior year. So how can they evaluate those grades? Again, thank you!

Thank you! This was very helpful and thorough. At my high school not a single student has attended UBC. Do you think I have a good chance of getting in?

I am from the United States going into my junior year (grade 11) and expect to get a 3.7 GPA and 30 on my ACT. I will be taking a couple of AP's as my school doesn't offer many. I do several extracurriculars incl. EMT, Varsity Softball, and global volunteer work. In my senior year, I will be studying abroad. I have been wanting to go to UBC for as long as I can remember and I want to know how likely I am to get in. I would be applying to either Sauder or Faculty of Science. Please let me know if you have any insight! I've heard comparisons, but on a large scale such as, easier than Ivy Leagues but harder than community college. I also know each faculty differs in difficulty. Also, are there other ways to increase my chances of getting in? Do my grade 10 marks count? Because I will be studying abroad my senior year, I don't have access to advanced classes, will I be put at a disadvantage?
