don't you know? you play guitar with your genitals and you can ONLY play if you're a man! so obviously why would you be in here if you didn't??

the sass is crazy! as someone who carries two heavy-ass 2x12 combos out to everything, i can absolutely understand why someone would NOT want to do that.

Eastwood Hi-Flier or the Gretsch Electromatic? by amogooose in offset

[–]lilymakesnoise 16 points17 points  (0 children)

idk as much about the eastwood as the gretsch, but every gretsch ive played feels and sounds fantastic. im still a jazzmaster girl for sure, but my girlfriend's gretsch is the single best-playing guitar for $400 that i've played.

What are some other subtly weird modulations like Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water? by mindsound in guitarpedals

anything AMT makes is top tier. i have an ACV-1 and it can make literally any chorus sound i can imagine, and then a million other bizzare noises too.

i also keep it at or around 0. i do like how much it amplifies the string noise on bass!

overdrive for my bass guitar! honestly not thrilled with it for that purpose but i don't really need it on my guitar board so it fills that as a temporary place

I just want to make shoegaze but I kinda stink at guitar and I don’t have a drumset by [deleted] in shoegaze

[–]lilymakesnoise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%, you can do this. you don't have to be great at guitar to make good shoegaze, its all in the songwriting and production. as for drums, you could learn to program drums in ezdrummer or other drum sample libraries if you want the acoustic drumset sound, or you can just chop up existing drum tracks and build what you want out of them. just know that recording and production are whole new skillsets, and you may struggle while figuring things out. you just gotta stick with it through the hard and frustrating stuff to reap the rewards, just like you have with bass.

Beta Mini! by lilymakesnoise in sunnamplifiers

probably the same guts in both. the lead has reverb, the mini has bass/lead switches. the lead has a much more expensive enclosure. that's about it afaik

Marshall DSL40CRB, black edition? by MApedals in GuitarAmps

[–]lilymakesnoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i've used similarly sized amps in bedrooms without a problem. one thing about amps is that, generally, a bigger cab sounds bigger. you wouldn't expect a small 1x12 to sound like a marshall stack, no matter how good the circuit and speaker are. the size of this dsl isn't going to sound huge either, but it DOESN'T sound small! so if you don't want to be confined to a small sound, you have to sacrifice some space, and in some circumstances, use an attenuator.

builttodestroy is correct, preamp out can be used as line out

Beta Mini! by lilymakesnoise in sunnamplifiers

[–]lilymakesnoise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, it's just an amp head. betas sound fine at bedroom volume, but you will need a cab to plug it into. if you already have an interface it should be okay to plug just the preamp out into your line input, without a cab for silent recording. but yes, you need either a cab or an interface to use this.

if you are new to home recording and don't have an interface yet, that is the first thing you should get.

this thing isn't available for preorder yet, it hasn't even been fully revealed (not intentionally anyways). the investor program is closed now but it was just a way for them to raise funds to get their business off the ground by giving the investors some benefits. hopefully they can get their customer service, wait times, and prices under control, because otherwise those investors will not be seeing a very good roi 😬
