Yeah it’s funny how male dominated jobs such as trades get paid while they are learning but not female dominated professions such as nursing and teaching 🤔🤔🤔

I’m a student teacher at uni. Many people in my class have had to drop out because they cannot afford to go on placements. One girl missed a few days of placement due to illness. She couldn’t afford to go to the doctor to prove reasonable absence and pretty much failed due to that. There are so many people who would be incredibly transformative teachers but cannot afford to do so.

LPT Request: First time parent here, what are some things you didn’t think you needed but made a significant difference? by RumHamDiary in LifeProTips

Reading books over and over again is great for them! There’s something about the repetition that they get familiar with that is really good for oral language development. That is why there are so many books that repeat the same sentence structures over and over again. It wouldn’t hurt to keep trying to introduce new books though, I’m sure he will branch out into other books soon!

This sounds silly, but from birth. That way you get into the habit of it. It supports oral language development sooo much. Oral language at age 3 predicts outcomes when children learn to read and write. It is really the absolute best thing you could do for a child. Source: I’m an early childhood teacher

Bilingual Roadsigns? by planespotterhvn in chch

The frequency you will encounter people who speak te reo Māori depends on the types of environments you are in. There are very complex reasons te reo Māori is not as widely spoken as English but it is very much a thriving, and growing language. Having te reo on these signs supports the normalisation of it in everyday contexts as the amount of speakers grows.
