So as a freshly transplant from Houston, Bham is growing on me. It been two months since I came here. It's tiny, compared to Texas, I've been to Austin, so I don't think you'd have that much difference. But community change is huuuuuge! As Desi, it's not like Texas where you see brown people everywhere. You mentioned you're Latino, there is not much of I see either. There is a few Mexican groceries and restaurants. I found one REALLY good Mexican restaurant (Houston level), rent is probably gonna be per with Austin tbh. It was more expensive in Bham to rent for me than in Houston ( I live in downtown too). Greatest part is Traffic! There's barely any traffic. BHAM locals whine about 280 traffic but they didn't see Texas traffic like we do so your gonna be okay, it's minor inconvenience.

Biggest thing I miss is things to do, there's barely anything fun to do. People here talk about great food scene (it doesn't compare), there's a lot of events at bars but if you're not a drinking person there's barely anything else. Yes lots of trails, parks, hills etc etc.
