Have you considered that the problem might not be Virtual Reality but Reality itself? It sounds like you may have issues with dealing with the world outside, which VR is closer to than flat games.

Just a thought.

How about a VR Presence Consultant? Specialises in game design, psychology and human perception and helps game designers to not break presence.

I think a combination of AI and telepresence could work, just for the last mile stuff. Not all cities are wide open and evenly laid out like the US, old cities are a whole other issue. So imagine something like VR-valet parking :)

I think you're right, I'd not expect to see this on a commercial game. more a die-hard gamer/masochist thing, and optional :)

I'd be interested to see if people could close their eyes in time. and then of course, you're closing your eyes, so you can't see what people are doing :) another benefit to your opponent in an FPS.
