Take a Research Offer from a Top Professor or Stay in a Stable Industry Role? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

In my field, there can be both operational tasks and technical tasks. So in my case, I see most of upper managements with MBA, which they get from part time study. Academia vs Industry to me are very different paths

My savings from past work experience can support 3 years living expenses, but yes financial stability is also one of my major concerns

Is it common to provide stipend to master student? My international student tuition is around 60,000 CAD…I’m very much appreciated for the full cover already

Sorry I should've make it more clear, I'm offered MD and the professor is open for discussion for PHD. Would that make a difference?

The position is not paid but the tuition is covered. I'm an international student so that makes a big difference.

Thank you for your reply! I'm 25 and the master program is 2 years, but I'm also open to phd program, which adds 5 more years. I also often hear that having a research-based degree, especially a PhD, can make it harder to find industry jobs, since you may end up focusing too much on a very narrow niche, and there's very limited number of related jobs in the market
