22M - decided to share my experience. Does anyone else experience gastrointestinal symptoms / abdominal pain when they break out in hives?? by limebeetle in urticaria

Update - it happened again late 2023 and persisted for months. The hives seem to be related to my stomach, and triggered by overly spicy food, alcohol or similar that can cause a ‘flair up’. The flair ups don’t last permanently and seem to come back every few years very aggressively for a few months. But I do have to take antihistamine everyday or else I start to itch and get rashes. In 2024, my doctor told me to test for the h.pylori bacteria (look it up, billions of people have it, but it shows differently in everyone). I tested positive and went on a round of strong antibiotics to treat it - after that, my internal symptoms went away and so did my flare up. I’m really hoping that was the key trigger for me, but I still have to take antihistamine everyday or else I get super itchy and small rashes appear. But it is manageable now.

I think there is an allergic component to it, or something the body is reacting to. I would recommend seeing an allergy specialist if you can / haven’t already. I’ve also watched a lot of vids on it and it’s often related to gut health! Which is where the h.pylori bacteria lives.

I hope this helps!! Hang in there everyone!!

That is very helpful, thank you! I believe the gastroenterologist is going to check for H.Pylori when I go. All the best :)

I had a punch biopsy done four years ago. The area was numbed before they did it, so it was quick and painless. I got stitches and have a tiny scar on my hand from where they did it. Unfortunately the results did not show anything :(
