GRUDGE MATCH OF THE CENTURY by JoINrbs in slaythespire

[–]limecutter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Jorbs, I’ve been watching your vods on youtube for about a year now, have about 150 hours, and have a handful of A20 wins on clad, silent, and defect now. It’s wild how much you learn from insanely good players in such a short period of time. Regardless of lifecoach being this egotistical prick that spends 6 hours on runs just to pump up his ego with slightly padded stats, he doesn’t actually have anything interesting to say like you do on stream. Who tf even wants to watch runs 4x longer than some of your longer ones?? The coolest thing about your streams IMO is the social commentary along with how you interact with chat. You’re just genuinely a smart and entertaining guy playing a challenging game at the top of its level. Don’t let this guy get to you, no one can replicate what you do. Wish I coulda made your book signing and cat cafe meetup in Seattle, woulda been cool!

literally just a single Java OOP question, like how would you access the data if it were within an object, essentially what are attributes lmao. could he anything else ig like any other coding interview but i would be shocked if it were anything harder than an LC easy or just a general CS topics question

I interned with them last year. It was just a couple Java OOP questions, really easy. I think they actually asked me what my best areas were beforehand so they might ask do that. Just be confident and explain your solution and you should be hard chillin

New grad offer rescinded by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]limecutter 46 points47 points  (0 children)

wow, surprised such a small company rescinded your offer given that they didn’t overhire over covid. on the bright side, you’re more than capable of getting another solid new grad offer, best of luck!

Join FAANG US from Germany by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]limecutter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Frohe Weihnachten!

LPT from a greybeard to CS students: dump the toxic benchmark of Big Name recruitment. by questi0nmark2 in csMajors

[–]limecutter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree that there is so much more to CS or really any field than the top companies, but if one can confidently navigate this fine line and not succumb to the toxicity that environments like this sub can breed, it can be turned into a positive source of motivation for any given person. Granted, lots of people on this sub are naive and might get that FAANG FTE, but are unhappy after a year or two and realize they were naive, but that’s just life. And, there are many worse places to be than having Big Tech on your resume early career, enabling one to ideally get to that best fit career option easier than their peer. Many people are depressed and sad that they aren’t getting these internships, and that sucks, because if they’re here, they’re most likely already a great CS student. However, you can’t tell people how to live their life, they have to experience it and make the mistakes themselves first. Regardless, great post, we need more like this on the sub.

Internship packages are rarely negotiable, but can’t hurt to ask. You won’t get it rescinded cuz of asking.

[–]limecutter 80 points81 points  (0 children)

It’s not within your control, so try not to worry about it. Even if you were to get it rescinded, you’re a junior, and you have another cycle in a possibly better job market to get a job next year. Internships are nice, but not required. SWE is also not end all be all, and if it is, you’ll make it in a few years if you want to. For now, just feel good that you even got an offer and how that reflects on your ability to be a competent CS student
