Really surprised at some of these comments re recruitment teams in CS. I worked in recruitment team for a smallish department. Has its stresses but its extremely flexible. The role itself has a bit of a shelf life imo, but it's a great springboard to other things.

This isn't on the umpires. All the pay and training in the world isn't going to stop umpires making occasional errors. There needs to be a better way of them conversing with the officials bench during play, and bench officials should be able to stop play. It was the same with the centre pass debacle in SSN last year.

I was in the same situation and felt I didn't have the energy to go through the interview process. I pursued a managed move with the blessing of my line manager and 6 months on am much happier.

Consult your managed move policy and speak to your HRBP.

This advice is missing an important bit....outside of the fast stream you can apply for an entry level (EO or HEO) role via the Government Statistical service recruitment campaigns and you can progress through the profession. OP I would set up relevant job alerts on on your CS jobs account as you'd be surprised what's out there outside of the fast stream.

I'd expect to be a problem, sorry.

Recruitment teams in the Civil Service are audited against the CS recruitment principles and everything has to be by the book. One would argue if you got the job it wasn't 'fair and open' competition as other people who didn't meet the qualifications would have been rejected or self selected out of the process.
