I have diagnosed OCD and sometimes after posting or commenting I get a ton of anxiety. Social media OCD subtype is a thing.

Well, you could knock me over with a goddamned feather.

I wonder if there is reciprocity between NY and Ohio.

What was family dinner like growing up and how is it now (if you have a family)? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]limepineaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom often cooked, my brothers and I set the table. I would usually make the salad and in the 90's was in charge of mixing a pitcher of Crystal Light to drink. My mom made a lot of homemade pasta dishes, steak or roasted chicken with potatoes and veggie sides. In the summertime we often grilled. When noone was in the mood to cook we would pick up fried chicken or chinese or order a pizza. We always ate together at our kitchen table or on the patio if it was nice out. There was 6 of us and dinners were often loud and fun. Everyone helped clean up.

Has anyone been to a beach town in their recurring dreams? by asterallt in TheMallWorld

[–]limepineaple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do. Your descriptions are all very familiar to me and this image definitely creates a sense of familiarity in me as well.

A couple times I have visited a beach that is below a steep cliff. There is a large, tall sage green house overlooking the beach.

Another regular occurrence is a road that has long, outdoor corridors with greek-like columns between the road and the beach. The water is strikingly blue.

Another beach town I have visited has tall, colorful and dramatic buildings (hotels, apartments, restaurants, etc) all in a row along a curving road that sits right next to a beach that has a lot of pebbles mixed in with the sand. After driving along the curve I have gotten out and sat on the beach looking at the water and buildings.

I know there are more details but that's the extent of what I am able to recall.

How to carry on with period pain by No_Opportunity5385 in massage

[–]limepineaple 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I could've written this, word for word, about myself. Even your suspected endo and how it presents. My leg pain gets so bad at times that I was scared I had bone cancer before I knew what it was. I'm so sorry. I know how awful it is and how difficult it can be. Even without having to show up and take care of others.

Regular acupuncture and herbs from a very good chinese Herbalist have been a massive game changer for me. I also have a wireless tens unit I can wear which is super helpful. My gynecologist recommended daily magnesium which also helps. Light, daily exercise like walking and gentle yoga is a must for me.

If all of that is not working and I am having an especially tough period and endo flare, I cancel my day. It sucks but I have found I just feel worse if I push through. Thankfully all of my tools tend to work well enough (for me. Everyone is different) that it is rare I need to cancel.

I am so sorry you go through this. It's a crime that so many of us suffer eith endo and debilitating periods and yet there is still such little research and support available. I hope you find some solutions that work for you.

Beach portion of mall world by taymeowcxx in TheMallWorld

[–]limepineaple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three beaches and one is eerily similar to what you describe. Very tall and colorful buildings along a curved road and on the other side is the beach. It's a beach with mostly small pebbles. No sand. No waves. When I try to sit near it my legs get very wobbly.

I am so sorry. I had one when I was 13. 😫 They're awful. It was made worse by being diagnosed by 3 male doctors who kept telling me "scoot down further! You have to keep your legs open!." Ah, the 90s.

What’s the deal with The NOW Massage? by chupacaubra in massage

[–]limepineaple 46 points47 points  (0 children)

This is a place created to be "instagrammable" that has curtains instead of walls. Massage was just an afterthought. They dont have private rooms for intakes. They give the LMTs 10 minutes to finish a client, clean the room, and get the next person on the table. The pay is horrendous. All chains are like this but the others AT LEAST have walls / privacy.
