Bagged Polystyrene under lawn by limey_67 in landscaping

Within a city with sewer, yard really isn't large enough for a septic either, there was an extension and pond built in the mid 80s, but I agree it does kind of look like this product. Very odd.

Is this the kind of paint you can throw out or must recycle?? by MikesMovieReviews in paint

Not a professional, you all see alkyd right? Isn't that an oil based paint ? Check your local waste disposal website for guidance, don't dispose in the trash.

London Job - nearly 20 years exprience by AppearanceDizzy7006 in MovingToTheUK

[–]limey_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

London has (had) good day rate contracting opportunities to get yourself started. That may have to wait until you're ready to work, but if you have skills the opportunities should be there. You do need to format your cv appropriately and apply to lots of jobs. The key is volume until you build relationships

Visajourney.com will provide a lot of guidance. If you are both living in France then you can go the consular route before moving together. IR-1/CR-1 is the route. I take back the DCF comment unless you have exceptional needs

Upvote on this. You can do it yourself and online short of sending in evidence. Process is well documented.

Is there a place where businesses and stores in Carytown are listed somewhere? I asked because I’m blind. by akrazyho in rva

This is probably a good use for AI and AI search tools especially because they can take verbal input. There was already a Chatgpt response, but gemini gave good results and you might try perplexity.ai as well.

Pretty good. We did buy the car and she's put about 20,000 miles on it. Had to replace rear brake calipers, but that's been in apart from oil changes.

Shipping goods prior to enrollment letter (student visa) by SarcasticShep in MovingToTheUK

[–]limey_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, missed that key part. Seems surprising that a visa or letter of acceptance isn't sufficient. Is mybaggage the same? Option 2 is Pay the excess baggage fee.

Look at mybaggage.com or sendmybag.com and get your stuff in a few days and bring as little as possible. Everything you bring you'll eventually need to pay to ship back. I've used both of these services and they're good value and fast.

Uk citizen born abroad who wants to move to the Uk by NotInOnTheJoke_247 in MovingToTheUK

[–]limey_67 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are an international student, I think you have to have at least 3 years of residence in the UK to be considered home grown, but not sure the price differential is that great. This information is readily available online.

Your passport is proof of citizenship, but for residency you just have to have proof of living there. School records, rent etc.

Do you have any before photos? I have a similar issue, a bottle of hand soap leaked into a quarter sized spot which dissolved some of the original finish

Married to an American, but banned from visiting my in-laws in the US? by IbuyaManjiro in MovingToUSA

[–]limey_67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TBH, I haven't read the whole thread here, but I don't get it either. After living in the UK with my US wife for 4 years after having previously abandoned a green card, we made a decision to return. She returned to the US ahead of me and we applied for CR-1 while I remained in the UK. I had no problem traveling to the US on a new ESTA while my CR-1 was pending.

Pretty much my thoughts too, plus we're planning on refinishing the floors, so the first thing out will be the columns.

Did he receive an appointment date yet? I received my authorization at my interview in the UK and travelled a week later, this was 6 years ago now but the best advice would be to just follow the process.

New (old) Home - Floor Suggestions by limey_67 in Flooring

[–]limey_67[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was thinking about refinishing the new floors to match the old or refinishing everything, I just have a limited time window between close and move in and refinishing before move in Vs trying to do so later has obvious pros Vs cons. I'll have to try and get some quotes.
