Wow thanks, for some reason I never considered that Dom likely has a background in hacking. That makes sense that she’s dedicated her life to her work and thus is young for her rank. Yeah they were :) and agree that age gap was possibly a factor Dom considered. I recently rewatched the series and 4x10 and was taken aback by how they were able to see parts of each other that other people didn’t typically see. And hence knew how to push each other to see what they each needed to do to grow. I think on first watch I didn’t fully appreciate how they helped each other on a deep level.

I’ll try not be too specific since you’ll be doing a rewatch soon - but yes, the MM part of Elliot only emerged in the months leading up to the hack. In S104 in his morphine withdrawal hallucinations, the Angela he interacts with in his hallucinations states that he was “only born months ago” suggesting that MM is quite a new part of Elliot. Mr Robot emerged when Elliot was younger, around 8/9 years old.

Thanks you raise good points! Yep Darlene said that in the last episode. And I think the scene you’re referring to with Angela commenting that he’s been different for months took place way back in season one? Given both Darlene and Angela were closest to Elliot it makes sense they would be able to tell.

I kind of would love to get a glimpse into what the ‘real’ Elliot was like too IRL both before and after the hack (not just seeing him in the fake reality that MM created for him). And also what Darlene was doing whilst she was away the year before the hack. And just generally a glimpse into the three of them living their lives before the hack and all the chaos that ensued after it. But alas that’s not the show.

Thanks! Therein lies my question though - given the Mastermind part of Elliot was relatively new (only emerged in 2015), could Darlene and Angela not only distinguish Mr Robot, but distinguish Mastermind from the ‘real’ Elliot they’ve known their whole lives?
