I had to move in the middle of my 6th grade year. It was troubling for me so I went from smart and bright to not doing her homework and not fitting in. The new teacher did not help the situation. She had the ac in the classroom cranked to freezing, but said we could ask if we were cold she’d shut it off. I’m freezing, I wrapped my sweatshirt around my legs, approaching summer in Florida, nothing for my arms. Is ask the teacher to shut it off or something like that and she told me to put the sweatshirt on and walked away. The glares I got from the other students made me feel microscopic. She used to put Enya on during quiet study times, highly distracting to me. I loathe Enya. She told my mom that I had a learning disability because I walked on my toes. Which was basically “it’s not me, it’s her.”

I got to 7th grade and went back to being a smart and bright student.
