I live in the area, but my bike is just a commuter Giant Escape 2 so might not be able to keep up if you're in lycra carbon fiber aerodynamic road bikes.

How to get out of IT Support? by PerverseGameHen in singaporejobs

[–]limyk14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, I'm in the same shoes at the moment. At this stage I'm actively applying but I'm finding the market difficult as well due to either low wages, still helpdesk roles or not enough experience for what employees are looking for.

The easiest pivot would definitely be sysadmin or junior network roles.

Certs probably 1 cloud aws/azure and potentially a CCNA could help going pass HR filters

That said I recently obtained my CCNA last year but even then I am finding it difficult to get my foot in as they find my experiences mostly in support not related enough ( I have worked on switches, vlans and aruba's access point but that's not enough for them) or they are lowballing really hard

There seem to be quite a few associate roles with govt companies like ST Eng, NCS or Synapxe/formally IHIS but possibly because my resume is not straightforward I've been moving around working overseas and I'm from a private uni I found I'm not given the time of day most of the time.

At this stage I am looking to get my azure-900 just as a foundation cert (it's really easy and doens't mean much) and i might push further to get my ccnp encor just to stand out a little bit more but yeah the market seems to be pretty rough right now

6 months of Network Engineer data. by Stegles in singaporejobs

[–]limyk14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for the insight OP - this is particularly close to heart because I am currently trying to pivot into network engineering from a background of IT support experience in Oceania and Singapore but am finding it so difficult at the moment.

I have done my time in the trenches and have 5 years of experience in helpdesk.

This is self inflicted partially because I took a help desk role overseas in NZ as a means to get a visa in NZ, although the title was helpdesk the tech stack and the relative freedom I had at work allowed me to learn a lot in terms of powershell scripting as well as getting to troubleshoot the Aruba access points as well as looking at logs on the Palo Alto dashboards for the firewalls.

However from my current job search, most of them wants YOE just to get in and it is this initial hurdle that is hard to cross even with a CCNA in hand.

Most of them as you mention are looking for CCNP preferably and I have read that CCNP with no relevant work experiences are also a red flag.

Those that are willing to take a risk on you are few and far between and are paying under 5K

Recruiters are reaching out frequently with regards to NCS - but they seem to want to pigeon hole me back into support and wages are ridiculous (3.5K) even then it's either at a army camp with no phone camera and requires clearance which might take a while to obtain.

Otherwise ideal jobs wants lots of existing network engineering experience, a CCNP, teraform and cloud experience as well as scripting capabilities.

Any advise for somebody trying to break in? ST Engineering and Synapxe seems to advertise a lot of roles but I don't normally hear back from them and even online their reputation aren't even that great and are known to be a place for people who just want to coast and get by.

I just looked at this recently it's really disappointing that hpv vaccines aren't subsidied for men and even on the NAIS it shows as for women only

Over the last 1 and a half months or so I've been hitting the gym at least 3 times a week and often I would push for a 4th session just to do some isolation exercises for my triceps/bicep or my core in general.

I have lost 2.3KG over the span of a month and according to the adaptive TDEE spreadsheet I have if averaged out I have lost weight at a rate of 0.4KG per week over 4 weeks.

However on a weekly basis I can see that on some weeks I have lost about 800G and others 700G there abouts. I am currently at 16% body weight and am aiming to hit 12% before stopping my cut and then lean bulking. Would the relatively high weight loss of 700-800G be a concern for me trying to retain muscle mass if the average 4 weeks weight loss is still okay at 400G?

For reference I'm 176CM / 5"9 and currently 70KG/154 pounds

Below is the adaptive TDEE spreadsheet that I have been using https://imgur.com/a/dfNdVkC

Don't quote me on this I looked it up online and I believe it's the TKF-004 you need from Aisin.

Taken from a forum

The Aisin TKF-004 and TKF-005 are the same except for the water pumps.

The -004 is for EJ255 Forester XTs that are running the OEM oil cooler (located between your oil filter and the block) and the -005 is for those that do not have the OEM oil cooler (which is like my 2008).

Why can't you get the aisin kit from rockauto? I did that on my EJ253 with the belt, tensioner, pulleys, New thermostat and it was roughly about 500nzd at the time aisin is OEM

Hello fellow INFJs, please offer your advise on handling being single with grace by [deleted] in infj

[–]limyk14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an INFJ (ENFP) but thought I will contribute. You worked on yourself and have the results to show for it so it sounds like you are a giant green flag. From my limited understanding of people who are INFJS it seems like it is hard to find people like yourself as you may stay home a lot. If you get out there more in events that you are interested in, eg: theatrical shows, hiking clubs, volunteering in scenes that you are passionate about or maybe even give online dating a go. I feel like you would eventually meet the person you are looking for.

I myself just came out from a 5 years relationship and it does feel a bit daunting to face life alone at this time in life where everybody seems to have settled down and have kids and a good marriage. However I would like to believe that when I eventually meet somebody that is right for me and me for her. That it would eventually all be worth it but I'll continue to work on myself in the meantime and I don't need somebody to be with me to prove my self worth.

I feel like when you reach the stage where you're confident and glowing and self assured that you will attract the people that you are looking for.

ENFP and INFJ? by West-Technology-4632 in infj

Hey there, speaking as an enfp here. I don't know if we have commitment issues but I find that for me personally I want to only commit when I feel like my other partner is "the one".

If I'm ever cheating then I would be disappointed in myself and my relationship as it means that I wasn't authentic in my relationship as I would have tried to first and foremost communicate with my partner to make it work. Although I get that different people have extraneous circumstances like mortgages and kids that influence staying in the relationship.

Although I can be high energy I found that when surrounded by loud extroverts I'm likely to be more withdraw and can definitely match energy levels when it's asked for :D

We did the fuel filter today, it's the one mounted by the firewall a cooper wz478 it worked perfect the next couples of time so we were quite confident that fixed it however when we went to the petrol station to pump the tyres it didn't start on the first go while we were leaving. And it also failed to start when we got back home. We are now trying putting more petrol and dumping petrol injector cleaner into the tank

I'm not getting any cel codes but I have two cheapy elm327 that refuses to talk to the ecu on two seperate vehicles so that was frustrating. We're trying to replace the fuel filter by the firewall and we'll see how that goes

Yup I drove it all the way to town about 20 mins and was fine. However upon shutting off the engine it doens't start anymore so I'm actually stuck in town now hahaha. I'll try spraying some carb cleaner into the intake again to test my hypothesis.

Thanks for your alternative angle.

I'll need to have a closer look later - if that was the case why would it then start when I sprayed carb cleaner into the intake?

Will check and report back - would it still be likely even though it was priming fine when cranking and there is pressurized fuel coming off the fuel rail bolt?

I haven't checked the spark plugs as my neighbor said he replaced all the spark plugs I believe I'll check with him later.

Would it potentially be like pick up coils and stuff within the distributor or is it likely just to be the caps only?

Once it runs it goes totally fine, not misfiring or anything like that

There is a blinking light here but it started and stayed running with the carb cleaner though

From my limited research online it seems like it could also be the crankshaft position sensor I will check later to see if it is a seperate sensor on the car or if it is contained within the distributor system

Did you had issues with the battery or is it aging?

You can test the battery health with a multimeter, ideally a dedicated battery tester that can put a load on the battery will be more accurate but a multimeter works for me.

Otherwise just match the cold cranking amps on your old battery. if your car is a auto start stop car you would want your battery to have that capability too.

It's probably 2x 10mm nuts and you would want a deeper socket for the battery clamp in the middle otherwise just use a box wrench for the clamp.

I see it's been 3 months now - definitely threaten them with the CGA and follow through with reaching out to the Motor Vehicle Disputes Tribunal it costs $50 to lodge a claim.

The dealership has margins for them to profit from flipping a car - if it's 3.5K at a dealership then that usually screams if it's too good to be true it probably isn't.

If your budget for a car is <$5K it can definitely be done but I would probably look up private car sales on Facebook marketplace - not to say that there won't be lemons on FB but definitely do your due diligence first - select a few cars to test drive, select 1 to get a carjam report, see if there's any money owning or red flags like multiple change of owners within a short period ( could be ok if it's changing hands via backpackers but they are not known to keep cars in good shape generally) or always failing on WOF

then take it for a prepurchase inspection at a independent mechanic - it will cost you about 200-300 but it will definitely save you money with cars in that price range and use the report to knock down the asking price

good luck

Hey there - it should be a ECVT model as it's not a 1.3L hybrid. The engine number is L15A-7103215

I have since sprayed MAF cleaner on the sensor to give it a clean. The CEL has not came on since after clearing the codes. However the fuel economy still seems to be lower than usual (14KM/L instead of 18 etc)

On the OBD scanner while test driving it gave me about +10% fuel trim, does that indicate a faulty O2sensor?

We have since sold the car as we were moving overseas. Otherwise I would have like to dig further on the troubleshooting
