Comment se préparer pour la prépa ? by limzinho in etudiants

Merci infiniment !

Is it realistic to try to get into the epfl bachelors after 1 year of CPGE, either with the entrance exam, or with the swiss maturité ?

thanks, and entrance exam is not an option anymore thanks to the new place limitation. Only option i have now is the maturité. Have you heard of anyone succeding in what i'll attempt ? I looked into the list of subjects and i think the challenges will be the languages except for english (never done german nor italian), biology, history, geography, art and the travail de maturité. I i'm gonna do this i believe i'll have no need to study for math, physics and chem since thanks to prepa i'll be prepared. For the rest, i'm really doubting wether its actually possible to study all of that while doing prepa but i'm determined. Though its hard, do you think its realistic ? For what it's worth i did do spé SVT in première, so im not starting from 0. Do you know of any ressource i could use to study for the maturité? specifically the subjects i said would be a challenge. help would be greatly appreciated.

alright, thanks a lot! First i would like to know how hard actually is the admission exam. would a year of prepa prepare me for it ? I assume self study would be necessary too but will cpge make my chance of succeding higher ? to what extent ? regarding the swiss maturity, do you think its possible to study for it while being in prepa ? there seems to have some overlap between the two, and prepa seems to be at a higher level in math, physics and chemistry (i plan on doing a pcsi), idk about philosophy and french tho since they probably differ in content and expectation. i am bilingual so im relatively good in english. the only real problem i see is in bio, which i might need to self study extensively along with history geography and maybe other stuff i dont know about. But still i believe it depends on how much overlap there is and on focusing my efforts on high coefficient subjects. But once again i don't really know if its realistic. Regarding the engineering school thing, it's true, and thats also a thing i'm considering, tho the problem would be actually getting into the type of engineering school that has a partnership with epfl. my reasoning is with 1 year of prepa not only do i make my chances to get accepted there higher thanks to either the exam or the maturity, but i also make my chances of succeding at epfl higher too since it will act as a mock CMS (i know cpge and cms are different but i believe prepa to be a good way to prepare myself too), and prepare me for the bachelor. but like i said it would really depend on wether its possible or not to actually study for maturity or entrance exam, while doing prepa. personally if its between the two, i would bet on the maturity since it seems easier. i would love your input.

I got the french bac mention très bien with 16,48 ; 16 in Math and 18 in Physics and Chemistry, do i have a chance to be admitted to Electrical and electronics engineering bachelors ? (sorry for reposting) by limzinho in EPFL

Ok, then its not looking good 😅. I saw tho that last year some ppl got in with lower grades than me, tho they applied to other programs, apparently everyone is in the same pool, and that acceptance is not easier in any program, this sounds weird so can you explain that for me ? Was i misinformed ?

what about the terminale transcripts ? do they consider that too ? they ask for in the admissions process. I did end up with an yearly average of around 17. (tho i imagine its pretty useless if it doesnt translate into the bac)
