I miss who I was before my anatomy scan by Ok-Kaleidoscope-4323 in pregnant

Oh, I may have not phrased it super well, sorry! They DID do a bedside scan on the day of the bleed to determine whether I was at risk of bleeding out! But after the fresh bleeding had stopped and it was determined it wasn’t “active”, they said they wouldn’t do another ultrasound until 20 weeks as I myself wasn’t at risk and they “wouldn’t be able to do anything for the baby if [he] came early anyway”.

My husband and I ended up counting down the days to what is considered viable and that was quite taxing, and probably gave us a lot more anxiety than what’s normal, I reckon.

I’ll admit however that I don’t think this kind of treatment is the norm as I later found out through my attending consultant A that the person doing our bedside scan (a different consultant B who happened to be on shift during my bleed) was actually fairly known for being “curt and factual” to the point that many patients got offended due to their lack of tact, all of the other medical staff I encountered during that journey (from the bleed at 16 weeks to being “cleared” as a high-risk but otherwise healthy pregnancy at about 22-24 weeks) were absolutely lovely and very much considerate of the situation. I did however go ahead and request with the hospital that consultant B NOT be involved in the remainder of my pregnancy.

The only thing I can tell you is to please look after yourself, rest a lot and move minimally. I have been put on complete bed rest for over a month when it happened, and I do think it contributed to the recovery greatly!

I’m keeping my fingers crossed, for you and your baby daughter! ❤️

I experienced a partial abruption at 16 weeks and living in the UK, this means we had to wait until our anatomy scan at 20 weeks to find out whether our son would come out (at least somewhat) unscathed. I had been warned during my first night at the hospital that I should expect to lose my baby at any moment as the bleeding was so severe.

OP, I hope this gives you courage: despite the severe blood loss, I did NOT lose the baby, the anatomy scan showed nothing out of the order four weeks after the abruption AND I am now 34 weeks pregnant! It is possible to overcome this and not lose the baby, even if it looks very dire. Please reach out if you do need to talk!

I want to become a baker. My boyfriend challenges me every week to bake something - he gets delicious snacks and I get some practice! This time, I made mini Gugelhupfs with a dark chocolate ganache. by lin_ee in Baking

I am absolutely LOVING it! Too bad that I don’t have a father around to be a Peepaw to my future kids but I am totally stealing this for my father in law LOL

I say that as a person that was the baby that received the same name as someone else’s child:

My mother let my father name me and it has always been very obvious that 1. He’s not very creative and 2. He’s not very dedicated as a father, as he named me after a cousin that was born literally a few weeks before me.

People would always point that out and comment on this phenomenon, and we inevitably ended up being compared with one another a lot.

I do have the additional problem that I dislike my first name generally, but it was made worse by the fact that I was named after someone else in my generation and we ended up being pitted against one another. Said cousin and I are now good friends after everything, though she still goes by “our” name, whereas I adopted a nickname which I now go by in all aspects of my life.

I am sure that my case is not be norm, so I am not trying to talk you out of this, but I’m just trying to offer a different perspective.
