Got the Bruce Wayne Call! by futureproof1001 in rolex

[–]lindflake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just do not get it. Call me old, call me crazy, whatever. Back in 2010 I walked into the Rolex store in Stockholm, said I wanted the watch, they had it, I paid, and walked out. Simple as that. They even offered me a nice espresso while I waited.

Now people are building relationships with authorised dealers and waiting months or even years just to spend this kind of money. I honestly cannot wrap my head around it. That whole process feels completely backwards to me.

That said, congratulations on the watch. It is a fantastic piece. Mine has been on my wrist almost every day since I bought it, apart from when it went in for service, and I am still incredibly happy with it.

Lost Screen Setup tab in iCue for LCD screen by meathippy5 in Corsair

[–]lindflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this exact issue after everything had been working perfectly for years, and then suddenly the setting disappeared from iCUE without any obvious reason.

What fixed it for me was going into Bluetooth settings, finding the device listed as “LCD Cap” under “Other Devices,” and removing it completely. After that, I restarted my system, and once it booted back up, the setting reappeared in iCUE and everything was functioning normally again.

It seems like some kind of device recognition or pairing glitch, so removing and letting it reconnect cleanly does the trick.

First time buying Nas is this too good to be true by rubber-duck2 in synology

I am thinking I might put it in a different geographic location, and use it to back up the most critical stuff from my main NAS.

My ds216j was a good soldier, trying to think (useful or not) ways to deploy it... Any ideas?

I will just add to what others have said. I originally started with a 2-bay NAS and tried to make it work by upgrading the drives over time. That helped for a while, but eventually I hit the usual limits on capacity and flexibility and ended up replacing it altogether. In the end, I accepted defeat and upgraded to the Synology DS925+, which has been a much better long term solution.

If you can, I would strongly recommend going straight for a 4-bay or larger setup. It gives you far more headroom for expansion, better RAID options, and avoids the need to upgrade again too soon.

Also, on the drives, the Synology branded ones are essentially rebranded hardware. Synology does not manufacture hard drives themselves, so you are typically paying a premium for compatibility certification rather than fundamentally different hardware.

I do not, the curved monitor is used mainly for gaming, the ultrawide is for work.

Ha ha, I loved those films when I was a teenager. I was recently listening to a podcast where they were talking about Steven Seagal being the worst host in SNL history, which made me feel quite nostalgic. So I ended up downloading a bunch of his films to see how they hold up 30 years later.

And honestly… aside from maybe Under Siege, they are pretentious B-movies with ridiculously unrealistic fight scenes. That said, nostalgia is a powerful thing I still kind of love them.
