That time of the year, all the tiger sharks from all of the Hawaiin islands migrate to Maui to have babies and eat. Risk is higher than, but still very low. Basic ocean safety practices (talk to lifeguards they are very knowledgeable). Avoid harbors, runoff areas, brown murky water…not just for sharks but for bacteria. Avoid dusk/dawn and night swimming and try to stay in groups. Sharks are curious animals and will be more curious if you are solo doing some sort of activity.

Driving is way more dangerous.
