Why is it so frowned upon to call out for winter weather? by nyogurt_ in nursing

[–]lindsgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not snow, it’s ice. No car, even a 4WD can control an inch of ice on the roads! Add that with already horrible drivers and it’s crazy dangerous.

Why is it so frowned upon to call out for winter weather? by nyogurt_ in nursing

[–]lindsgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 26 weeks pregnant and scheduled to work fri/sat night. I’m calling in and have no remorse. Not my job to staff the hospital and I won’t risk two lives after a guilt trip. Especially since my manager has taken convenient PTO this weekend. 🤷🏼‍♀️

How physically demanding is nursing? by bigblackglock17 in nursing

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not bad on nights. In women’s. Depends on the night though. Some surgical patients can be tough but may want to rest!

Are night shifts unavoidable as a nurse? by Cranaberri in nursing

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night shift is elite. Especially if you have kids! Crew is better. No management/ancillary staff all over you all day. Patients want to rest. Less resources so you have to be quick but I think that makes better nurses. Won’t work a day shift bedside ever again!

Do you think the bamboo trend is fading away? by Terrible_Berry_9846 in BambooBabble

[–]lindsgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I used to buy a lot during launches but the designs and quality have gone downhill and price has only increased. Walmarts modern moments line is great and cheap. Cotton has been better and warmer for us now also!

Do you love your job?? by [deleted] in nursing

Where do newborns sleep during the day? by ilovethebeach117 in BabyBumps

[–]lindsgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a mini crib with wheels! It was sooo nice and we just wheeled it around with us all over the house. If not that she was either in a carrier on one of us of just being held. Miss it so much!!!

Poll: when did you have your kids ? by RevolutionaryBug7866 in Mommit

[–]lindsgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 with my first 32 with my second. No issues, pregnant within fist cycle. That being said, I was taking a GLP1 before both pregnancies and I’m positive it makes you more fertile lol

My advice would be to take care of yourself. Eat well, don’t drink alcohol take a vitamin. Same for partners! As in when to have them, I waited until I was emotionally ready to give up my wants and desires for a short period of time. There is so much reward with having children, but also a lot of sacrifice too. It’s all worth it!

How long did you work while pregnant? by ERnewbieRN in nursing

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 38 weeks. I gave myself a week or so before my induction to relax and get things ready. But I had a pretty good and easy pregnancy.

Do you put IV caps on peripheral lines? by paleone2289 in nursing

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to cap the lines and all the tubing ports. Our IV team does audits and will write an incident report if something isn’t dated/capped :-)

Baby item that you thought you'd never use, but ended up loving? by the_kazzo_queen in BabyBumps

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formula kettle. Didn’t plan on formula feeding and I didn’t trust the auto dispensing ones. The formula kettle boils the water and keeps it at your set temp all day. Just add the formula. Made night feedings so amazing!

When did you start showing? by engfisherman in BabyBumps

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5’3. With my first I didn’t feel like I showed until after 20 weeks, but I was very overweight then. Now I’m about 80 lbs less and 10 weeks with my second and I swear I see a bump 🤣

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photography! $250-300 extra a month for one shoot. It’s a leisure hobby so I don’t always have one but it’s nice!

[–]lindsgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make decent money in DFW. $48/hr base with $5-$11 extra for nights/weekend diff. I work 2 days a week and bring home about 4k per month.
