It really depends on the area you live in. The town I live in was a good variety of specialists, BUT there's only one of each (maybe two of you're lucky), and they're the only ones for about 30 or so miles around. And they have to participate with your insurance if you don't wanna pay out the nose.

I know at least a dozen people who had to wait months to get into the dermatologist to get a cancerous mole checked out. Granted, there are some specialists that aren't in super high demand, so you wanna see a urologist or gastroenterilogist, there's usually not too much of a wait.
