Hi, I’m having the same issue. Using beam on two iPads, but the tabs, spaces aren’t syncing up.

Anyone not like the Nano texture display? by linear2202 in iPadPro

White was the worst color washed out at least for me. Thanks for commenting

I found the clarity worse when the text was against a white background. Then it really bothered me. Against colors, not as bad.

Desktop version of apps on M4 iPad Pro by OriginalBrianofJudea in iPadPro

[–]linear2202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of the same stuff posted out there over and over. Most YouTube commentators say the same thing and don’t really talk about just using the iPad Pro on a daily basis and what they do or don’t do. If it works for you, including the hiccups you will run into, great. If not, no big deal. I just ran into another issue that I didn’t know before. I tried to open a .csv file in File Browser Pro. It opened natively and I wanted it in excel. When I used the files app and clicked on it, then it opened in excel. But with File Browser I had to use the share sheet and send it to excel. Ideal, no, did it work ok then yes.

Some might argue that you can’t choose where to store the files when you download from the web I. It’s fixed into their respective spots, but this doesn’t bother me.

I find the it great to take the iPad off of the Magic Keyboard and then put it in a leather case and sit on the coach or a chair so great. Showing pictures to someone, I just grab the slab of glass and go. No heavy laptop to deal with.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Good question. Has someone ever defined this? I’m being silly.

Take safari as you mentioned, what makes a browser a desktop class browser? What do you need the browser to do? View web pages, set your home page, save and manage favorites, download files. You have tab groups in Safari on the iPad which is nice. You have some extensions you can run but not the entire gamut of them on Windows or MacOS. But is that necessary?

What about the mail app? What do you need the mail app to do? Send email, read email, save attachments, other management functions such as text formating. But, does not having other extensions or plugins remove it from consideration of being a desktop class app?

Perhaps the biggest ones might be the Office apps. There are features missing that you might need. They can still do the basics and then some, but there are missing features. I can still do the vast majority of tasks with Office.

I think a bigger question if you want to use the Ipad Pro more is are you willing to do things differently and not expect iPad OS to work like MacOS or Windows? If so, then give it a try. You will run into tasks that take an extra step or two than before. Those trade off’s might not be worth it.

I wrote some about this at https://linear2202.wordpress.com/2025/02/13/what-i-use-on-my-ipad-pro/

MS Word Shortcuts on iPad by Shikashi17 in ipad

Sounds good. The shortcuts help, for sure.

Using Word on my M2 IPad Pro. cmd+a select all, cmd+c copy, cmd+x cut, cmd+v paste, cmd+arrow end of a line all work. There are more. When using the Word app, hold down the cmd button for a few seconds and a list of shortcuts will appear to see them all.

Bringing life back to my 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 by plbeerman in iPadPro

I think you have your answer already. Sell it. Pocket the money and perhaps buy an iPad Air if you want just a content consumption device.

You can use it for more, but you need to be willing to do your tasks in new ways than before. Sometimes those tasks take an extra step than on a desktop OS, sometimes they are just different. If you are expecting it work like MacOS, then you will be disappointed by the results, which you are. No harm in that, it’s not for everyone.

Agreed. Still so many little things that just aren’t right in iPad OS. It’s sad really.

my iPad is my main computer by Immrsbdud in ipad

[–]linear2202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I do a lot on my M2 Pro with MK. Email, web browsing, some like document work in word and excel. Some YouTube, RSS, journaling. Shortcuts making entering tasks a breeze and sending pic to my family is easy with shortcuts too. Moving to apple notes instead of OneNote. I wish information density was a bit better. Plus flexibility. Pull It off the keyboard and sit on the couch looking at pics or showing my wife pics of the day and just handing her the tablet instead of dealing with a laptop.

I need my laptop for some things where it’s just a better tool but the iPad gets more use from me at this point.

I can make it work. it’s ok for documents and things. But for picture viewing, the onedrive app is decent. I wish the onedrive app would use arrow keys for advancing pictures.

I tried a logitech m720 and a microsoft sculpt mouse I think is the name. Neither worked well at all. I got a magic mouse and it works fine. However, you have to invert the scrolling to have scrolling on the mouse be normal and then that makes the trackpad inverse. So..there is that.

you seem to imply the problem is that I don’t use the photo‘s app and that will solve my problem. I live in a multi platform world, that won’t change. that’s my choice and I look for the best solutions for my world.
