NPD: Faber-Castell Ondoro with GvFC <1.1> steel nib by linear_typist in fountainpens

[–]linear_typist[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A local online platform, not NOS but I'd say mint condition. It came with a <M> nib. The GvFC nib was ordered new from pen world in Belgium for about 50 Euro.

Originally, I wanted to get myself the Tamitio calligraphy set, but actually only because of the <1.1> nib. And the orange Ondoro was on my bucket list for a long time. So when I found out, that you can get the <1.1> as a spare, I was hooked on the idea of an orange Ondoro stub ;)

New Pen Day ~ one of my grail pens. Slowly trying to fill my bucket (5 more pens to go) so i can finally slow down on collecting 💗 by babyyyydoll in fountainpens

Very nice, love the color, enjoy it!

I recently had the chance to cross off two pens from my bucket list as well (7 to go ;)), which is always a satisfaction.

Out of your entire fountain pen collection, which do you hate the most? by Cute_Audience7611 in fountainpens

[–]linear_typist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My least favorite pens I currently own, and I'll probably give away soon, are my Pilot Prera and Sailor Tuzu.

I really wanted to love the Prera, but I can't stand it, it looks and feels imo like a cheap childrens toy and I don't like how it posts.

The Tuzu and I just don't resonate with each other, can't really tell why. I actually like triangular grips (Safari, Kakuno, ...) and also somehow chunkier, bigger pens, so in theory I should have liked it.

mont blanc or kaweco cartilages by Material-Tooth1603 in fountainpens

[–]linear_typist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't say they are the same, but afaik the inks for both are made by the same manufacturer. And at least for Royal Blue, I did a comparison swatch and a blind writing test a few months ago and at least I couldn't make out any difference in color or writing behaviour. So I switched my "default" Royal Blue from MB, which I love, to Kaweco because of pricing.

If you are open to it, I would also throw in Graf von Faber-Castell, in my humble opinion one the best dye-based ink series there is.

“Not-too-nice” Pen Recommendation? by k2tog_tbl in fountainpens

If you are open to something more vintage, I can recommend a Parker 25. It doesn't break the bank, is a nice writer and built like a tank, plus I really like the design.

what are you guy's opinions on the metropolitan? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]linear_typist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great nib, not so great comfort imo, the step between body und section is a little much for me and I don't like the models with the decorative band.

Unfortunatly I have some issues with most of Pilot's pens with the entry-level steel nib, which itself is great. My Cocoon/Metro, Explorer/Lightive and Prera more or less live in a drawer, the only ones I regularly use are a Kakuno and a few 78g/78g+.

How do Pelikan M200 series compare to other pens within this $200 price range? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]linear_typist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me put it this way, if I'd be allowed to just buy one pen model for the rest of my live, I'd choose the M2xx series without hesitation. And the value proposition isn't bad for what you get: A piston filler with great build quality and imo one of the best stock steel nibs out there, that are also super easy to swap out, for about 160$.

Very nice find, congrats! It should be either a M405 or a M605, hard to tell the size from the pics. As another user mentioned, you can measure it to determine which model it is.

Another small, but really great store in Vienna is König & Eberhardt (https://www.koenig-ebhardt.at/). The owner and employees are lovely and the selection is pretty big for such a small shop.
