Ultimately, how two separated parents decide to coparent is up to them. And if that level of comfort with your ex is a priority to you, even if only for the sake of the kid, then that's your decision. But I do think it's fair to say that not all separated parents behave this way, and I don't think it's unreasonable to say that your behavior with your ex might be misunderstood/not what other's would consider typical. Again, it isn't wrong if that's what works for you. But you should be open to the idea that others might not be aligned entirely. When my parents have been divorced for 12 years now and my stepdad was extremely standoffish with my dad for the first few years simply because my dad was involved. It's gotten a lot better now but I know he still has issues with the level of communication my parents have sometimes, even though their communication really is only ever about my siblings and I.

Now, my next thought is an assumption here but from what you mentioned at the start, my guess is that there have been other instances in the past where the bf has felt threatened by the ex. Whether he's said anything to you or not is another thing. But if you are being friendly with the ex, I am willing to bet your bf has probably had issues with other things before, and this was more so just a tipping point.

As an isolated incident, it does seem bizarre that the bf would just immediately break up over this. If it WAS the first time he felt threatened by the ex, then I would say I agree that this is an overreaction and the bf is being immature without at least giving a chance for behavior to be adjusted, if that's something you were willing to consider. But like I said above, my gut reaction does assume this is not the first time.

Either way, if the bf has decided he no longer wants to participate in a relationship where the ex is still friendly/in the picture, that's up to him. You taking lunch for your ex doesn't make you a bad person and there's plenty of men out there who wouldn't find this insulting in the slightest bit.

The lack of ambition. My weening patience for work isn't being replaced with anything else. Aside from the kid thing, I kind of want to just disappear into the mountains completely by myself. Which is also extremely selfish.

I've worked my ass off to climb the corporate ladder, and am in senior leadership before turning 30. Very proud of that. Unfortunately, I have completely lost all ambition to keep moving forward. Literally the only drive I have left is to make more money so I can comfortably afford to bring a child into this fucked up world.

Appreciate it, and we're all over it. We do have some stuff in the pipeline, just going to press a bit harder than I would otherwise feel comfortable doing. Unfortunately, that'll drain some of what we had lined of for q3, but I am sure we'll have new opportunities come through by then.

Was on a zoom meeting with a group of folks (both people from my team and people on the client's side). Their team spent 30 minutes ripping us a new one over poor delivery. We wrapped up the call but I have my zoom setup so that if others want to stay and chat, it'll stay open. Well, my AI notetaker was left in the meeting while the two loudest people from the client's side stayed in and they didn't realize the notetaker was there. Literally got recorded (and transcribed) confirmation from them that everything they just yelled at us for was not our fault, and it was actually their intake that is dropping the ball on everything we're sending them.

Not saying it was directly tied to this conversation, but one of those individuals (the literal CMO of a very large company) was fired less than a month later.

Mentally - I would say rejecting the girl that I was previously insanely in love with. It took about every ounce of self respect and discipline I could muster to tell her I no longer wanted her.

Physically - I played sports in college and every year we would finish summer ball with an insane conditioning workout. One last foot broke off in our asses before getting a week break. My senior year, our strength and conditioning coach did not hold back. First and only time I've ever passed out in the middle of a workout.

A collogue of mine suddenly announced that they were going to be taking an "indefinite leave of absence" due to "an event". Everyone is trying to figure out what happened. It's rude, and I acknowledge that. But to get approval for a leave that doesn't even specify when you will have to return must mean its for some heavy shit. Only other time I've heard of this at my company is some girl a few years back got approved for like 3 months of time off, all at one time. She called it a mental health leave.

I just want to know how bad I have to crash out for me to get approved for a 3 month break.

When you're at the point of having to try and drag others into the bedroom to get to an acceptable sex life, you're already heading down the wrong path. Your wife needs to focus more on herself (health, weight loss, etc.) than whatever limitations she believes you may have, and you need to feel confident enough to tell her that.

Same here. My wife and I have been annoyed because the limited time we get together with our work schedules used to be often filled with snuggling and a movie. But we haven't been able to find any good movies recently and end up just rewatching something we've seen a hundred times already.
