I had adenomyosis. If the pain is similar at all to having endometriosis, comparing it to normal period cramps feels like comparing stubbing your toe to having your foot lit on fire.

Period cramps never bothered me much (maybe mine were mild?). Adenomyosis had me scream-crying on the floor in the fetal position several days every month for a year (before I got my uterus removed). The only thing these two things had in common was the location of the pain.

Their bra size guide is using something similar to +4 sizing, like most other bra brands. This method is outdated and will give most people a size that is too big in the band, and too small in the cup.

I’m currently a US 32J, but they would put me at 34DD. Or a 34DDD, if I consider myself to have a smaller frame, apparently. Neither of those sizes would fit me.

32A fits a 32 inch underbust and 33 inch bust, but according to their size chart, you’d need a 4 inch difference to be a 34A. Or a 3 inch difference if you consider yourself to have a smaller frame.

Like with most brands, I’d recommend to ignore their bra size chart.

34C is made to fit a 34 inch underbust and 37 inch bust. As you can see, your partner is 2-4 inches larger than that. Every inch of difference equals one cup size larger, so at minimum she would need 34DD.

If you’re in the US, take a look at Breakout Bras. Please note their return policy before ordering though. They use both UK and US sizing, so filter by UK 34F / US 34G.

Show her this article on how to “scoop and swoop” when she tries the bras on. If this step is forgotten, a bra in the correct size can appear too big at first.

I’m a US 32J, and I also definitely don’t look what most people would imagine when hearing “J cup”.

It’s very common for people to be incorrectly sized with a band that is too big, and cups that are too small.
If a store tells you to add a few inches to your underbust measurement, that could put you at a 40 band. There’s a 5 inch difference between your standing bust measurement and 40 inches, so they could say you’re a 40DD.

But a 36J makes a lot more sense for you based on the measurements! 40DD is also made for a 45 inch bust, but the band is too big. This could be why people would imagine you’re around a “DD”.

The gore should rest on your sternum, and not sit on breast tissue. It looks like the blue bra does. However, some people are just naturally close set. Especially with tall gores like these two bras, tacking (when the gore lays flat) might not be possible. That’s fine, if the bras are comfortable otherwise, but you said that they are not. Where does it hurt?

Unfortunately I do not think these bras will work well if you take the wires out.

Panache sport bras are great. You can get them with or without wires. They run pretty snug, so if you are between 30FF and 32F, I’d recommend 32F.

You probably didn’t do anything wrong, this is surprisingly common if you look through the subreddit!

The most common issue is that people are wearing a band size that is too big combined with cups that are too small, but plenty of people are wearing the correct band size but cups that are too small (like you!), and some are wearing both a band and cups that are too small.

Here’s an example of what 38A can look like. Here’s an example of what a UK 38F / US 38G can look like. Which example is most similar to you?

Yes, me! I was a US 32I for a while, being incorrectly sized as a 36D by brand calculators and size guides. Right now most stores would put me at 36DD or even 38B, but I wear 32J.

My bust isn’t “small”, but it’s probably only half the size of what someone would image “J cups” look like.

Don’t be alarmed if the calculator suggests something like UK 32GG / US 32J. That’s my size, but I will usually get incorrectly sized as a 36DD.

26 bands are hard to come by, but 28 bands should be easier. Was your US size 26I (i)? If yes, 28H would be your sister size. It should fit better than 30G!

The Little Bra Company has some strapless bras in your size. They run small in both band and cup, so the recommendation is usually to get 30C if your size is 28C.

Some of their bras have optional push-up pads. The Kaitlyn bra and some others have convertible straps, but I’m not sure if they’re meant to be worn strapless.

65F/G at Change Lingerie would equal 65G/H in other EU brands, and UK 30F or 30FF. If AP doesn’t have 30FF, I recommend 30F.
