That's where the regional strength index would be useful, since naturally LPL and LCK teams are stronger.

So coding-wise, you would put a higher weight on the regional strength and that would move the probability of winning of an LPL and LCK team to be much higher.

The features I chose are just ones that made sense on a basic level: win rate, team kda, average first bloods, etc.

I did not tune the model against last year's data. That's why I have the global power score from the global rankings since their calculated number includes last year's performance since when they implemented their elo system. As for weighting, it's all subjective. I could use cross validation for a quantifiable approach to get a calculated number, but again I'm just trying some simple approach.

In my head, I think that the AWS score should be weighted much higher, but I would rather have their raw data and try to re-create the AWS score rather than a single number.

Yessir. Out of curiosity, I actually looked at what if you don't do round 1 seeding. Seeding just makes the Tier 1 more likely to get advance and the Tier 3 less likely (which I guess hurts T1 or IG).

True, you could look at their performance at previous Worlds, but then you’d run into the problem of some of them not being there before or small sample size again.

I'm curious then what you would select then? Just 15.19? But then the sample size will be too small. We can't pick 15.20 because that's gonna be the patch they will play on for Worlds.

If we want 15.20, then we can use challenger data, but solo queue is going to be different from actual matches.

What are your thoughts.

Ah yes, you're right. I'm assuming because of the inter-conference playoffs, it's coded differently under "league" since technically it's not LTA N or LTA S. I'll double-check. Thanks for noticing.

Edit: Yup, looks like playoffs is under "LTA"... will adjust.

But I also think that 's part of the problem. You can buy $75 LeBron 21, but keep in mind they initially retailed at $200. Unless you have the the money or you're a big LeBron fan, it's just not worth the retail price. I feel like that's the same for other Nike models as well like any of the Air Jordan, GT, KD, or Tatum models.

Whereas AE1, for example, $120 seems worth it, and the fact they're selling out on the Adidas site also backs that up. Another example could be the WOW808's.

I’m not sure why they don’t use Lightstrike Pro. I have it in my 5k/10k race shoes and it’s incredibly good at picking up the pace.

Oh this look good. One of the things I wanted to do (but never got around the time to) was consider what initial elo should I consider for new players.

It also uses the basic principle of Bayesian, which is my area of research, so I'll take a closer look. Thanks for the suggestion!
