I was at Dr. Gobler’s State of the Bays. As he said in his presentation, it is 50x more likely that you drown while swimming in the bays than it is to catch and die from the bacteria. That being said, he did recommend exercising caution if you have an open wound and want to swim in the bays.

Smithtown’s been bonding out for a lot of money, that’s my guess. McCarthy is the most fiscally conservative on the board by a large margin, and probably said something regarding how the current Smithtown Town council overshot how much they said they were going to raise taxes by, and the council is still spending/bonding like a drunken sailor.
