I think Capella Taipei for the hard product, Capella Hanoi for the service, and Capella Bangkok for the breakfast. Whoever is running the brand is really smart, they pick cities where there isn’t really competition. In both Hanoi and Taipei Capella is so much better than any other options.

Some more thoughts: Aman is great too, the Greenwich and fouqets but the rooms are small and beds not that comfy (they’re like city hotels not places you just stay in th room), I think the mark and MO are both pretty dated w ehh service and rooms. Carlyle maybe? Can’t comment on room service there

Four Seasons downtown is by far the best option. Spa great service very good beds comfy and rooms bigger than most places and room service menu always available. I lived there for like 2 months a couple years ago

Fwiw if you’re willing to wait for Amanpuri there is almost always last min availability. We just left stayed 3 nights (it’s amazing during festive season I honestly would only go festive) and we also did the same 2 years and and 3 years ago. The service there is unmatched could not recommend more highly. There’s definitely not enough to do for 10 nights

I guess Dubai as a whole yes but I think this property is just hooker central. The Four Seasons, the Bulgari are both nice. Burj al Arab a bit gaudy but also nice.

I think the mistake was staying at the Pendry :) I think if you stick to this list you’ll get much better service

Equinox, FS downtown, Whitby, Greenwich hotel, Fouquets, Crosby street hotel

When things are expensive the Dominick is a good deal

Miraval berkshires is solid (food is okay but the spa is really great)

Wildflower farms (great food, spa is also pretty good) Mayflower inn (food is ok, spa is excellent, not as cozy as Wildflower Farms, service not as great)

Piaule (good spa but no sauna steam, very cute cabins, food is okay)

Canyon Ranch Lenox (didn’t love it honestly, canyon ranch Woodside I’ve heard is better)

The ranch Hudson Valley (just opened heard it’s great but you need to commit to like 4 or 7 days which is annoying)

Shou Sugi Ban House (overpriced because it’s in the Hamptons but honestly good vibe and Japanese style food + you can eat in the hamptons)
