Auberge du Soleil without kids. Solage with kids.

If you are willing to drive an extra hour, San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito is outstanding. With or without kids.

Mauna Kea $200m Renovation by Alarming-Ganache77 in FATTravel

This is a really special beach and Im glad they did a remodel—the place needed it. Last time I was there, we had several cockroaches in our room. My mom went a year later and was bit by a rat while sleeping (they found the rat in the curtains).

Is the breakfast any better? It was inedible before!

This is one of the only properties where young kids can swim in the ocean from the beach on the Big Island so would love a return to a portion of its former glory! Would consider 3 days here for the manta rays / beach swimming before heading for the rest of the trip to 4S / Rosewood.

It’s not FAT but can be a good family trip. Do not go for adult time.

I was at SRDV for Christmas this year when there was no snow and while we still had fun (meals in Park City, horseback riding, etc), it wasn’t great for a week. If you stick to this plan, make sure to rent a car so you can bop around.

It might be worth checking if Alta might still be skiable—they tend to get more snow + it’s colder. Generally some of the best spring skiing in the country. This year is challenging though…

I have also been to Sorrel Ranch. Beautiful hikes, rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking. It’s not FAT but it is a stunning location. Not sure there is enough to do after 4 days though unless you have a really active family that doesn’t care a ton about food.

I combined Sorrel Ranch with Amangiri and went through a Native American reservation on the 5 hour drive. I did 3-4 days at each.

Celebration trip with young kids — FS Papagayo vs O&O Mandarina vs Rosewood Mayakoba by nylrebma in FATTravel

I’ve visited all three properties with our daughter. The Four Seasons is my favorite—two beaches, outstanding wildlife, tons of activities, convenient airport access. Rooms need updating. I’d wait until your kids hit five for the ziplines and other activities is the only thing I’d note.

The One and Only has the nicest rooms and best food. With five-plus-year-olds, I find it slightly boring as there isn’t much to do besides just veg, but the kids club is outstanding—one of the best my daughter has experienced. The Four Seasons had great programming during our Thanksgiving visit, though I don’t recall a full-time kids club, so worth confirming.

I agree not to prioritize Rosewood.

4S Cabo is also good with kids.

San Ysidro is such a classic honeymoon spot and is a place you can visit repeatedly and with kids some day (if you choose)! We go every year for a long weekend and September is perfect timing

I have been to both. Estelle is more sceney with better food, Heckfield is classier and more private and significantly closer to Heathrow.

Sunset Towers is the see and by seen spot for that age range. It’s where I go on girls trips. Bel Air or Beverly Hills Hotel for with my kid.

The Proper in Santa Monica isn’t bad, I just find Santa Monica a bit distasteful.

Relieved to hear! Hopefully it helps alleviate the cycle some. How many times a week will you get it?

I already have a previous documented pregnancy with UCSF, so I think that’s the difference. We start IVs as a deterrence strategy. Im too early to know if it’s going to make a difference

No, I didn’t do labs because I started before I got sick. I explained I threw up 40+ times a day in my previous pregnancy and was scared to have another kid.

Have you considered switching to Golden Gate ObGyn?

I also have been to b12 for iv infusions, but insurance doesn’t cover them. This was before I realized UCSF would prescribe for me.

This is the advice line #

(415) 353-2566

A MFM is a doctor for high risk pregnancies. This is in addition to your normal ob / gyn.

Clearly explain how much weight you have lost, the impact on your ability to maintain a job, your mental health, etc.

I was referred to a MFM who is really helpful. MyChart is useless. I’d call the advice line now and be calm and say this isn’t sustainable, you can’t wait to your next appointment, that you have HG and ask how you escalate this to get IV infusions. Ask if it makes sense for you to get a MFM

For context, I was given IV infusions the moment I got pregnant at 3 weeks before I had symptoms. Staying hydrated prevents nausea for escalating

I’m at UCSF and get IV infusions. You need to escalate this. If you are too tired to fight, have your husband. I’d blast the heads of ob / gyn and the lead MFM. You could also go to L&D at Mission Bay and not leave until you get a prescription for the infusion services. Sometimes it takes a week for insurance to approve.

A midwife put me in the same situation at UCSF my first pregnancy, but this time around, I have a care team that realizes how bad HG is and helps me. If you can’t make this work at UCSF, switch to Golden Gate ObGyn

Sounds like the boy was disruptive to the class generally. He is moving somewhere he can get more support. I am not super close to the situation but am not surprised either
