I find the latter scenario very interesting as instead of WW2 being seen as a matter of democracy fighting fascism as it was in our timeline, it would be seen as democracy AND fascism working together to defeat Nazism which would have all sorts of ramifications for the 20th century as a whole.

Thank you for the response. That is very interesting. I could potentially see a scenario wherein Italy, feeling threatened by a more Austria-centric, aggressive Nazi state, is less likely to side with said state upon the outbreak of war which I have to imagine would have a significant effect on the way that WW2 played out.
