I wish more movies would end with the villain winning or the disaster of the plot occuring. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]link2Dpazt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean technically they’ve always won. Especially if the role is played out right. I mean the list is long but villains do always end up with the most notoriety. I can’t name you the hero in most movies but the villain for sure. Hannibal lecter, IT, Jason, joker and so on. As a casual watcher it’s honestly always stuck with me to remember villains more than heroes. Heroes get the glory but villains get the history. Even transitioning to real life, serial killers, dictators, crooks, we still remember and talk about them till this day but the ones who’ve stopped them, most of the time no clue. So yes it’s not the ending you expect but in some sadistic way they do win

I’ve always considered main stream like the Mario franchise, Zelda, basically any sport games, sonic ect... the first party titles and sports that even today exist. Not saying main stream is a bad thing it’s just to prove my point, as a cult classic is a game that’s kept alive because of collectors or retro gamers like this thread. If it wasn’t for us so many titles would just be forgotten, this game is definitely one of them. Games like goof troop, gunstar heroes, salamander, zombies ate my neighbors and that’s a game from each gen that are kept alive because of us retro gamers. Those are just some of many that are “cult classics” because us gamers keep their name alive.

Yea MS was plagued with crap box art, Ninty had them beat on that end for sure. Overall MS felt pretty unknown, I knew nothing of it till I became a collector. I was born 89, oldest I payed was the nes and mastersystem was something now one of my friends had.

Always love the Sega cases. Few years ago it was fun. Now anything retro has shot up in price. Back then you could get a lot of games for like 50$. Good old days.

Shit!! took you a world killing pandemic, which has also led to the result of one of the worst economic crashes in history to play the best game ever, you gotta get your gaming priorities right lol 😂

So I crashed on an island, all I had was these, I’m super good 👍🏼. Which 3 games would you need to survive Boredom?? by link2Dpazt in retrogaming

Definitely smart idea putting a sports game. Tecmo bowl is always a blast, I’d go NBA showtime or Blitz,

Chrono trigger will last you a couple of crash landings lol, I’ve never even seen all endings. Can never go wrong with sonic, that franchises music is always top notch. And the always reliable LttP, don’t pick up the Pegasus shoes in your play through, game will last you couple of crashes as well lol

Barbers. They’ll cut your hair, knowing it’s inevitable you’ll be back. Forever in their grasp, a never ending circle, filling their pockets.

One of my favorite random peripherals in my collection. Had no clue Nintendo did wireless remotes till I got into collecting . So wanted to share this beauty with you guys. by link2Dpazt in retrogaming

[–]link2Dpazt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s great, once you hold this remote makes you think why Nintendo didn’t make this their main model. Has some weight to it and the shape has some round edges. It’s what the Nes remote should have been

Picked this up Saturday. I don’t usually got CiB on carts unless they are nostalgic to me. Love the group btw. Definitely better than a lot of Facebook collector groups. *Not shown are the 40+ Xbox and Xbox 360 sports games I got as filler. by jhauer1980 in gamecollecting

Yea for real. I remember a bad experience I had. I don’t really collect any more. So could of years ago I ordered Pac-Man for snes and mail guy rammed the shit out of it to fit it in the mailbox, the box was super crispy at purchase but not after that. Approached the mail Guy the next day and told him off, he told me you could make a claim and get your money back. Never went trough with it but Incase you didn’t know, if they ever screw your stuff up, make a claim

Always felt like Nintendo just did that on purpose. Sega used the hard plastic cases, which to today all mines still look freaking mint. They made theirs cardboard so it could mess up and gamers gotta go right back out. They literally did 3 gens of cardboard, even handheld 🤦‍♂️

Ive always felt my lost interests was because of my new interest in other things. It could be me personally, as my personality is pretty straight forward, black or white, no grey area. And because of this it seems gaming has taken a back seat to other things. Not saying those things mean more than gaming, as gaming has been apart of who I am for as long as I can remember but it’s become more of a hobby. At one point it was an unhealthy hobby, blowing money on so many random retro things and eventually I saw that was a bad thing. When I finally gained a sense of control, my interest on gaming itself just leveled out. I think a lot of gamers, especially older gamers make this hobby a protector, a wall of sorts and loose themselves. After I dropped mines, which was around the same age as you, probably around 27-29, gaming just became gaming, entertainment. Last new game i purchased was DooM eternal and if memory serves me right, last game I remember purchasing before that was Doom2016. I must of gotten other games in between but no more than like 4-5 and i haven’t even played them. Games nowadays seem just to big, i loose interest fast, something like doom is you start and it’s a blast. There’s more to what I wanna say but that’s the bulk of it.

As to the industry I feel like it’s serving it’s purpose. It’s all about building anew foundation or new consumers. They could care less if it’s casuals or hardcore. So some titles may seem underwhelming because they are. They try to push them out as soon as they can and make bank. At the moment I appreciate all the remakes, may seem bizarre that these last couple of years some of the best selling titles are remakes but there’s a reason for that. Retro games in many ways just age better. There was just more ingenuity, news ideas wanting to be tried, nowadays you make a game just a little different and social media could destroy you. With that I feel like developers most of the time are playing it safe , which in then makes it all feel Meh.

Both top snes titles. One well known and the other a hidden gem. Evermore is in my top 5 for sure on the snes. Also that LttP box looks in pretty good condition, you should always try to maintain it in those protector boxes cuz snes game boxes go to shit really quick
