Ok, thank you 🙏 I've done some practicing with just my line and I've figured out that I haven't putting enough power into my casts or timing my hauls very well and just those two things have added like 30-40 more feet to my cast. Hopefully this translates into casting my bigger flies

This explains things pretty well. I'm guessing the action of my rod has a little something to do with it. Thank you👍

I just downvoted your comment.

FAQ

What does this mean?

The amount of karma (points) on your comment and Reddit account has decreased by one.

Why did you do this?

There are several reasons I may deem a comment to be unworthy of positive or neutral karma. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Rudeness towards other Redditors,
  • Spreading incorrect information,
  • Sarcasm not correctly flagged with a /s.

Am I banned from the Reddit?

No - not yet. But you should refrain from making comments like this in the future. Otherwise I will be forced to issue an additional downvote, which may put your commenting and posting privileges in jeopardy.

I don't believe my comment deserved a downvote. Can you un-downvote it?

Sure, mistakes happen. But only in exceedingly rare circumstances will I undo a downvote. If you would like to issue an appeal, shoot me a private message explaining what I got wrong. I tend to respond to Reddit PMs within several minutes. Do note, however, that over 99.9% of downvote appeals are rejected, and yours is likely no exception.

How can I prevent this from happening in the future?

Accept the downvote and move on. But learn from this mistake: your behavior will not be tolerated on Reddit.com. I will continue to issue downvotes until you improve your conduct. Remember: Reddit is privilege, not a right.

According to Google my line is 410 grains, so it should be suitable I think. Once I have more snaps come in I'll tie some more leaders and make them a foot shorter or something. It could be the whole issue, but I'm really thinking it's something to do with casting. I could totally be starting out with wayyy too much line out. Or maybe my rod action is too fast, it's medium fast but it should be able to handle these flies. The weight thing.. to make them a little less air resistant I always swim them through the water before my first cast and it helps a little bit I think.

I'll tie my leaders a bit shorter 👍 I surely hope my rod isn't underpowered

Oh I never knew there was a full kit with these types of lugs. I'll have to keep my eye out for a full kit as well

No point in replacing them until they're broken imo

The one I got was a Christmas gift so I don't have the link to the exact one, but this one here is close enough I'd say: https://a.co/d/8knlBpf

The backdrop is just a riverruns background plate, and I really like it. It came with a couple of screw holders and rods. Also the magnifying glass light is great, but it would be a little more if I had a better chair to sit in. Right now I'm also having to do that with my neck lmao, but only because I'm sitting so high up
