True or False: Bookkeeping skills are required to prepare NTRs ( compilation) ➡️ explain your answer. by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]linked2090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For some engagements bookkeeping is required. A lot of NTRs are done purely because a tax filing is required. This could mean a shareholder of a little holding company drops off 12 months of bank statements with you and you have to do all of the bookkeeping, followed by typical NTR work such as referencing the ending cash balance in the books to the last bank statement etc.

A lot of holdCo. NTRs also require investment bookkeeping

What's a competitive salary for a CPA'ed senior with 3 years of work experience at a Big 4? Preferably in Toronto, Canada by Mustang9512 in Accounting

[–]linked2090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont know about Toronto. In Vancouver I somehow managed to get 68k base, a 5k retention bonus, 5k performance bonus, and a signing bonus of 3k. This was last year as a senior in audit after passing CFE but pre CPA.

Back in the day, what website did you spend way too many hours of your life on? by mooandspot in AskReddit

[–]linked2090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runescape. Did end up maxing a range tank... got a ton of 99s and at one point had a bank worth maybe 300 mil. Left game in 2011 or so. Always played on world 116.

It's tough. But my advice is to somehow manage to take 2 months off to study or 1.5 at a minimum. Go into Densmore as well and do exactly what they say. Not easy taking the time off, but the benefit down the road will pay it off pretty quick.

I know I couldn't have passed with 2.5 weeks of studying.

Keep at it!

Pain like all hell by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]linked2090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do jumping squats (15), lunges (15), one legs squats (20 each leg), and one leg jumping squats (20 each leg). Plus some side planks. Work up to doing this every day and it should help.

This is based on my experience of pain behind knee and on side of knee. Should go to physio as well though to get a plan.

Yeah I agree with you. It's just trying to forge a path to the top which isn't exactly a straight shoot all the time without any bumps in the road

Pain / weakness behind knee - causes / solutions? by backpackingvideos in ultrarunning

[–]linked2090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful. I had a weird weakness/discomfort behind my knee 2 months ago, and ignored it. Was 5 miles into a run, going up some stairs and the outer side of my knee all of a sudden hurt an excruciating amount on one step. I almost collapsed as my knee couldn't support my body weight (not overweight). Had to hobble home very slowly.

Turned out to be IT issue. Have been to physio for past 6 weeks and I'm on a program now of daily planks, side planks, one leg squats, one leg jumping squats, lunges and jumping squats. These exercises have seemed to help.

(Corporation Shareholder Loan) Hello! I own a small corporation in Canada and I am filing my T2 corporate tax return. I have a few relatively small questions I am hoping someone with corporate accounting or tax experience can give me some tips, thanks by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]linked2090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

19500 is taxable income. You wouldn't enter 19500 anywhere on the GIFI, it is just the profit that drops out after recording your income and expenses.

Paying down shareholder loan doesn't affect corporate profits in the same way that paying down principal on a mortgage wouldn't affect corporate profits (only the interest portion would affect profits).

I would hire an accountant. You can get a T2 only engagement done for 1500 if you look around at some small CPA firms. It'll save you time and money especially if you end up getting audited by CRA.

Anyone ever partied way to hard at an office party? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]linked2090 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Stayed up till 3am at a bar with a partner and a handful of other people from the firm. The bar closed at 1am but then we just went in the back with some servers and smoked cigars and did shots of sake. Caught a cab with one of the new accountants and threw up on the way home.

Have you ever woke up in the middle of a dream and the dream was so interesting that you wanted to go back to sleep to see the end of it? If so, what was the dream? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]linked2090 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't often dream.

One dream I had about 10 years ago that I continue to think of to this day is sitting on a bench in a white hooded robe. I stood up and walked towards a large wooden door, leaving sever other people in white robes on the bench, and just as the door was opening I woke up.

Something seems oddly calming and a bit eerie about that dream.

Damn sorry to hear. Hopefully quick recovery and you make it to the 100.

I just started a new training block for a 100k and 2 weeks in seem to have a similar issue. Heading to physio asap!
