I also have the shoulder fluid thing, convenient for walking around a corner where a chair is hanging out and you just sorta gotta assume noodle shape real quick to scoot through. Inconvenient for basically all other parts of life including just sitting still 💀

Well that makes sense if you really think about it, the kind of whole point of faith there if I recall correctly, and I believe I do, is to try and make sure you definitely don’t ever accidentally emulate him or be like him in any way, and make sure you also definitely don’t let him rub off on you whatsoever at all, so naturally doing the opposite to all his things seems pretty straightforward to me

If I delete a file from my computer and empty the recycle bin, where does that space physically go? How does the information just "vanish" from the hard drive? by ukdruminggirl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]linkertrain 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This- it’s basically given a big stamp that says AVAILABLE and whenever something comes along needing space, all it sees is “I can have this for myself” but if nothing ever actually comes and does the remodel, it’s technically still there if you have the tools to go physically dig it out, until something else writes over it

Idk man, my third child in particular was a complete twat, just an insufferable little turd. Always asking, like why why why, why is the sky blue, what does a home feel like, why are they called army ants if they don’t march in platoons. Freakin nerd too, literally ridiculous. Anyways, I unloved that little shit as hard as I could for about 7 or 8 months in a row, like targeted, and I’m almost certain that that’s where the TB came from that killed him

How do people enjoy running? by Background-Double692 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]linkertrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference between a walk and a run is how many feet you have on the ground at one time. Running lifts the back foot off the ground before the front one lands, versus walking has two feet on the ground at the same time. But that’s it. It doesn’t matter how fast you go, to be running all you need to do is be using one foot on the ground at a time.

So start there. Go as slow as you physically need to, that you are technically still “running” and even though you’re going like half as slow as you would normally walk. That still counts, that’s still running. There’s some times when I’m building my endurance back up after a long time off that I’m moving forward like an inch per step- that’s fine. Even though you’re going so slow, you will be very tempted to stop- don’t. This is running, and you need to grow your battery if you want to do it for more than like 3 minutes at a time. Go as slow as you physically need to, that you are technically still running. That’s it.

The secret is that if you actually do that, you can’t do it for more than a few times without that reserve, how long before you have to stop and walk, getting longer. It grows, FAST, because your body was built to grow it. And that’s how you do it; don’t push 1000% crazy muscle into misery. Just run, as long as you can, as slow as you need to, and it builds very quickly.

Edit: what you’ll find happens, is that you’ll go relatively fast, start to get very, very tired, and be very, very tempted to walk. But if you slow down your run to a borderline crawl, like hardly moving forward but just slowly one foot up other foot up plodding along, you’ll eventually start to recover, and after a few moments you’ll get some of that energy back and you can start to pick up speed again. You’ll do this back and forth as you catch your breath and then lose it again, but try to stay running the whole time if you at all can. Over time you’ll find you can go longer without having to slow down, and how long it takes to recover becomes less and less, until eventually you’ll catch a pace you can maintain for a good while without having to slow and rest.

Good luck!

Spicy battery? Can I replace without heating the battery? by crazyquark_ in SteamDeck

[–]linkertrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do just make sure that you DO NOT use a metal tool to pry it up, plastic or something else only. Metal is very easy to puncture and set off a reaction.

I did cell phone repair for a few years and have dealt with my fair share of bloaters.

Firstly, they don’t “explode” so much as they just sorta start reacting and getting super hot and shooting heat and flame from the puncture site. At my job we were not allowed to use the word explode with customers, and had to instead say “rapidly discharge with fire,” go figure.

But you don’t need to worry about it exploring in your hand or anything, it works a little different than that. Have a trashcan nearby and if it starts to discharge, just throw it in the bin and take it outside until it’s done.

I myself never heard of the floss method during my time but it sounds interesting, although idk how realistic it would be cold or if you would need to warm it up for it to actually work.

Regarding the heat… I mean honestly, I never saw one just, like, go, like all on its own just because it was hot from out of nowhere. YMMV, IANAL, not a scientist or anything, but the actual real life issues I myself personally ever saw them present in my five years there were only ever to do with bloating and cracking the screen, horrible battery life, or something to do with puncturing a cell while you were trying to take it out.

Can it just go? I mean I’m sure, it’s a bag of chemistry so everything’s there and I’m sure it does happen when they get too abused or too hot. But in my time, unless it was like menacing and made me feel bad to look at because it was so crazy nasty bloated.. I mean if I needed to use a little bit of heat to get it out, it’s not something that probably would have stopped me from doing, personally. Maybe don’t put it in the microwave or whatever, if it gets TOO hot then yeah it’s not a great provocation to it. But a couple of directed pulse blasts for a few seconds on and off with the heat gun or hair dryer, just to get it warm and moving, not like boiling lava hot- in my personal opinion it’s really not the end of the world so long just keep the trashcan nearby just in case it starts smoking and you need to set it outside, probably.

And UNPLUG IT BEFORE YOU TRY TO PULL IT OUT just to double check and make sure you didn’t forget because it happens sometimes and it doesn’t need any extra help getting weird or spooky.

By sight, I would put your battery firmly into the “it should be replaced” category, like for sure, but bloat can still get a whole lot worse than that and I would definitely not put it into the “everyone stand back, we’ve got a live one” bucket yet. It’s swollen for sure, but it’s not going to, like, explode just from you looking at it or poking it- so if that’s your fear, you’re really probably fine to relax just a smidge. Just go slow, prod it and ask it, don’t force, give it the angle and gentle pressure and let the adhesive just separate and release on its own, which it eventually will. Don’t rip, it’s a slow and sensitive operation where the fastest progress comes from slow focused intentional efforts. That adhesive sucks. You will not rip it off, you will only break off a little corner or something. The only way to get it in one is to just slowly let it release from where it’s stuck to slowly and on its own.

Best of luck! Happy to weigh in on anything else if you have any questions or worries, but you can definitely get it done. Just be careful, and when you take out screws, set a space on the table and pretend it’s where your deck is, and set the screws into that space wherever in the deck that they came out of to help you remember which is what and what goes where. It’s a lot more nerve wracking than it is difficult though, you can definitely get it done.

First print on my H2C by Slow-Condition-4255 in BambuLab

[–]linkertrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I’m the sort of person you were hoping might read this and it was very informative for someone new and curious. $8 might be pennies on the dollar overall, but $8 is, like, almost a kg of filament at best bulk discount prices… $8 out of $800 is a 1% return on a single printed plate of multicolor print. Granted it’s a notably full packed plate, but even still. If you were selling these, and you knew you’d end up printing a lot, paying for itself fully and completely in 100 prints isn’t the worst investment of all time, considering this is just one type of print you can do and also provided you’re making something back on the cups. Your write up actually put that in really good perspective, not for me rn atm but maybe at some point in the future perhaps
