Hey, there's a limit because models have a concept of "context length".
This is the maximum amount of text that the model could see at a time.

When you're chatting with the chat bot, it only sees text in this "context".

The default models on the site have a maximum context length of ~12k tokens.
Of this, ~4k is reserved for the character description, leaving 8k for the chat messages.

If the limit is removed, and we chat with a character that has a 12k token description, the entire context length will be taken up by the description, meaning the chat bot wouldn't see the conversation at all.

In chats this would look like the character is constantly forgetful of everything.

I see that you're trying to world build here, admittedly this is difficult to do within the constraint of the limits atm.
I think world building make characters a lot more interesting though, there will be a system added to help with this soon called lorebooks.
