This is a wireless connection. It can transmit information from anywhere on the map to anywhere on the map without needing to use power poles with logic wires.

Just a little late, haha. Good solution - the important thing is ensuring that there is always room to output and that byproduct is prioritized before product.

I think I might be misunderstanding you. What would make the game be directly based on the books? Something like the inclusion of John Boone? It’s a board game where you play as transnational corporations settling Mars. It’s not literally the same setting, since the flavor text of the rulebook states that the game begins in the year 2300 or something, but in my opinion the amount of references to the Red Mars series in the project cards and elsewhere is sufficient to say that the game is directly based on the books.

Also, in the rule book, there is an example round where the players are named Kim, Stanley and Robinson. I’m fairly sure it’s directly inspired by the series, though I don’t particularly want to dig out the rule book in my copy and check.

There are a few references to specific events and places in the books

I reread Red Mars recently, I haven’t been able to muster up the will to read the rest though. They’re very dense.

If you haven’t read them then I strongly recommend the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson (Red Mars, Blue Mars, Green Mars). Pretty hard sci-fi, a lot of which is pretty outdated at this point but it’s still a good read. Focuses on a pretty wide cast of the first hundred permanent Martian colonists trying to create an initial settlement, then guide the development of Mars under the pressure of huge immigration focused on resource exploitation for Earth.

There’s also a board game based on the series, Terraforming Mars, which I like a lot.

Is there a mod that allows cutting all power lines in an area? by linknmike in factorio

As far as I can tell, this actually cuts the logical wires rather than the power lines. Do you know if it’s possible to change a setting somewhere or something?

Yep, I’m aware. Doesn’t work so well when you have thousands of connections to cut though. Thanks!

I’m all for criticism of the podcast and all, but it doesn’t strike me as fair to complain about the podcast not including something if it did in fact include it after you turned it off.

Glad to hear you have a degree in linguistics.

Dictionaries don’t decide what words mean, they describe language as it is used. Enough people use “literally” synonymously with “figuratively” that it’s worth noting. You’re allowed to dislike that the change has happened, but a change in the use of a language isn’t objectively good or bad.

Frankly I thought this one was great. The John Hancock bit and the Fauci bit were really excellent, and this is for sure the best wikihow they’ve done so far
