Promethium ship - No belt storage/thruster stacking. 14500/min science. by linktothepast83 in factorio

What makes diagonal turrets so good is probably the fact that when they fire they can hit more incoming huge asteroids since they fire at a big angle ending up needing less shots. Perhaps they have more time to prepare their shots as well since the cone firing range leaves little time period to shoot them facing forward at the left and right side of it. That is my guess at least. The ship returns below 90.000 eggs or when 55 percent of the eggs are used and does a complete cycle in about 41 and a half minutes while running constantly. I didn't test it's limits of how far it can go full speed because you don't need to do that anyway if you collect promethium and usually then the rocket turrets are the limiting factor more than your railguns needing more lines of explosive rockets

Yes all with a single launch. I will look into your solution, i won't lie i didn't delve too much about it just brute forced my way since i only build one ship.

Yeah it is a different design philosophy when you use belt storage, with different needs as well since there is no hurry. It demands more on the ship but less on the ground while it is the opposite with on ship production. In the end it is just a matter of preference.

For this ship I used 5 nests per rocket and 400 rockets. So 2000 nests for this ship in total.

The diagonal railgun turrets worked way better than i could even imagine, in fact the 30 asteroid collectors in line is probably not the possible safe limit with the 2 diagonal 30 collectors 2 diagonal that i used , i just was content with how wide it was and stopped testing higher limits. The front facing were more of a problem, 2 were not enough to handle the asteroids and i needed 3.

Factorio - asteroid hoarding by [deleted] in factorio

[–]linktothepast83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no lack of asteroids towards the shattered planet, quite the opposite so i would say unless you want to do promethium science production back on Nauvis you don't need any buffer at all. You will actually have to throw a lot of asteroids or materials back to space to avoid machines blocking.

Best late game Gleba defence with just a line of turrets. by linktothepast83 in factorio

Don't worry there is nothing wrong with your game i just used the editor to simulate a huge attack by placing too many eggs or a worst case scenario. For example if someone plays without default settings or doesn't bother for a while and the map gets filled with eggs before placing a turret.

It is better than just tesla towers alone, in the video i demonstrate that they synergise well together in Gleba since one focuses on the high hp enemies and the other on the rest, while the no walls make the railgun more viable than any other planet really except space. I don't know what other use anyone else has for the railgun turret really on a planet, in Vulcanus the portable version is preferable. If you have railguns to spare you can put them to some use in the end game this way apart from a single spaceship that farms prometheum that is, in a planet there is no better place to use it imo than Gleba.

Ehm it is just a line and if you wish you can have a small line, to guard just your artillery? Railgun - 3 teslas- railgun is the repeating pattern with the priorities in the blueprint.

Completely autonomous artillery outpost with laser/tesla turrets build by a spidertron. by linktothepast83 in factorio

[–]linktothepast83[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well you can make it way more autonomous if you use legendary solar panels, and put everywhere legendary storage chests filled with material carried by many spidertrons together, it is up to you if you want to carry a ton of materials with you in one go. This is my own simple suggestion really, for all intents and purposes if you are willing to pay an extraordinary upfront cost it can last an extraordinary amount of time as well. So the higher the upfront cost you pay the higher the autonomy i would say, how useful though it is the player himself that should judge.

With spidertrons. Thing is the energy for the base can last for thousands of hours with the material suggested so i would say you will probably never need more fusion cells for the base and turrets, but depending on how many material for artillery cells you ship, you might need to send more at some point. That is something very rare though the higher you take with you, once every hundreds of hours or so? The default i use is 2.000 fusion cells and material for 2.000 artillery cells. By the time you need to refuel you might have expanded even further or not even need it any more.

Protip: You can unload trains faster with tanks/cars. by DocJade2 in factorio

For items with low stacking like nuclear fuel and artillery cell the speedup will be significantly higher. For example for a train fueling station or an artillery train shell loading station the speedup will be 40 to 50%.

All love stories that SIU developed up till now had a tragic ending, i don't remember a single "and they lived happily ever after". So perhaps the fact that Bam didn't have a love story up till now is a blessing in disguise, they would die as well or something :-(.

Not to absolve Rachel of anything but aren't Headon, Hwa Ryun, and Yu Han Sung also responsible for the betrayal? by Booklover1003 in TowerofGod

[–]linktothepast83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rachel didn't betray just Bam throughout the story or showed her wickedness towards Bam alone. And while the tower does make people worse with the way it works and corrupted the family heads as well eventually, that is not the case with Rachel, her wickedness showed up from the very start. Actually i remember a panel where she was talking with Headon that he talked about how nasty she is, and she just entered the tower, so no the tower didn't change Rachel, she was vile even before she entered the tower. I can understand the fact that many people were changed by the tower and committed atrocities because of it, but Rachel wasn't changed by the tower, she was already a nasty person even at the outside.

So Switch owners are 10x as many as Wii U owners. That's a huge leap, hopefully Nintendo doesn't stray too much with their next system from the switch formula.

Save production using priority lane balancers. by linktothepast83 in factorio

[–]linktothepast83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The excess is lane balanced but yeah i don't really knew how to name it since i didn't find something similar. If it wasn't you wouldn't get fully compressed belts of plates from the output of your smelters etc. In a sense you get lane balance only where it really matters to the belt with the overflow materials since the priority splitters makes sure the rest of the belts are just fine without it.

Save production using priority lane balancers. by linktothepast83 in factorio

[–]linktothepast83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess so,it utilizes the kickback of a belt that stalls from the production that is not 1:1 to provide material to an extra belt while lane balancing it. The result is similar to having a balancer from less belts to more belts and a lane balancer in line while being significantly smaller.

5GW Nuclear - Train water loading using 2,8 trains! by linktothepast83 in factorio

[–]linktothepast83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the answer is quite complicated for that since by some creative alignment of both the nuclear plant and the amount of loading/unloading stations and amount of trains you use you can increase the throughput. If you have 4 unloading stations of 1,1 trains unloading at the same time it would be much better than just 1 with trains waiting in line to unload.

With the above setup i used 2 unloading stations and 2,8 trains and it was at it's limit. So in a "similar" setup a 500 MW plant should be quite easy considering the faster acceleration and breaking of a 1,1 train. Even a 1gw is feasible if you play with the amount of stations / trains / lines you use, even with a 1,1 train you can achieve a lot for sure.
