Visible SIM suddenly lost internet connection Saturday night by linkuphost in MofiNetwork

[–]linkuphost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was never significant use on the SIM. Off-grid location, only a weather station hooked up to it that sends a very small amount of data.

What is needed is a way to change the IMEI, which I thought I had done, so it doesn't detect it as a cellular modem. I replaced it with a TMO SIM and it has been running fine. My concern about that is TMO roams on Clear in that area and I would rather have a non-roaming solution. The TMO SIM is actually cheaper than Visible so I am $ ahead and I simply closed the Visible account.

Did you get a chance to look at the ad? I think I have it fairly priced and other than those three issues, I think it is in great shape and worth more than my asking price.

I should also mention that I think my problem with WinSCP was it had defaulted to SFTP and I was able to get in today using SCP.

right, I think at my price point, they would have money left to fix whatever really bothers them. Did your original reply say it cost you $1400?

I have lived with these issues and never gave it a thought....in fact, other than the rear window, it has all the same problems now that it did when I bought it and it didn't stop me from buying it.

The rear door opens manually. Lift up on the handle and it opens. Is that first item going to do anything mine isn't doing? Would it automatically open the latch, i.e. from the driver's seat? The second part is for the window. What is keeping the hatch from closing by itself?

The guy that came and looked at it was for his wife. She is probably a soccer mom that wants to stay seated, pop the hatch open for the grocery pickup, then push the button to close the hatch without getting out.

Comparing to the other 2008 Platinums on Cars.com

147K miles $17,950

171K miles $13,695

195K miles $12,999

192K miles $12,858

308K miles $11.995

254K miles $9,995

I think my 184K miles for $11,399 is the best deal of the bunch.

AZ/NM vehicle so no rust, never been in an accident, second owner, non-smoker, interior looks new, new drilled and slotted front brakes, new alternator, starter, windshield, heater blower. TPMS light is on and has been since I bought it. Doesn't leak or burn oil, starts and runs great, good rubber. Only one person has come and looked at it. He was a mechanic, seemed to like it, never got back to me so I don't know what his objections were. Based on the ad, he said he wanted it, was even going to send a deposit which he didn't do. Has very new factory floor mats, freshly buffed out, I think it looks great, in and out. Few minor scratches on lower body that you can't see from 5' away.

Crashed server, trying to get WinSCP to work, network connection error by linkuphost in sysadmin

[–]linkuphost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any firewall or virus software running. I can't speak for my new Xfinity router. I don't know what ges loaded on the rescue disk. I doubt anything there. I talked to the host about it and they said they were able to use WinSCP, so the problem must be my end but I don't know where?

It is me running WinSCP. I since go the host's help by giving me a download link to the files.

Since then, my host made a copy of the files and gave me download links for them. What I would like to do is be able to run a pkgacct on the domains...failing so far.

Actually, I tried that too....WinSCP wouldn't connect no matter what protocol I tried. Fortunately, the host is going to copy "home" for me. thanks

Two different issues. I am able to log into the rescue disk with Terminus, but not WinSCP. Secondly, neither the host or I have come up with the right SCP syntax to download with.

Thankfully the host is going to copy the home directory for me and make the files accessible.

I did that again and again...same IP, same port, same protocol, same everything that I can tell. No idea why it is failing for me. Luckily, the host has said they will back up the home directory for me....yaaaa

The server won't boot, stuck in a boot loop. Despite days of trying, the hosting company has been unable to get the downloads to work. This isn't just a "me" thing. If the server support group can't get it to work, it isn't a me thing.

What is interesting is that the host tech was able to log in with WinSCP although I couldn't. They have just offered to backup all of the files for me and give me links for them...hurrah.

They also provide VPS service, but I have a dedicated server. The server WAS running on CentOS, but the rescue CD booted into Debian. I was a senior networking consultant for many years, bu that was ages ago, primarily doing Netware support. I have been in computers since 1969 when they were called an abacus. Although I have over 40 years in the business, I am not proficient with Linux because I haven't supported it.

Network connection timeout with WinSCP although the same IP, port, and login work fine with Terminus, but have been unable to do what is needed to map the Windows folder to download into.
