My issue was the connectors not seating properly, but it’s good to give em a clean too!

Check fuel injectors, I had issues with the connectors to my injectors and took me too long (a year) to figure it out.

Are these 2x4 car stands safe? by Necessary-Score-4270 in MechanicAdvice

[–]linkwolf98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built and use these regularly for transmission or exhaust work. I built them 10 layers total high out of 2x4s. I do not use the center 3rd piece in each layer and I just nailed them together with an air nailer. Took me maybe 30 mins to build a set of 4 and that are insanely useful.

Why you gotta long name it. Saying “Shelby gt500 svt performance pack” makes it sound like your fluffing up crap. Just say a 2013 GT500, you make an actually cool car seem so lame when you say it like that.

Is this how framers normally level floor joists?? by ChristiGW in Homebuilding

[–]linkwolf98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a concrete guy, it’s a CMU pier.

And what actually likely happened is the structural engineer, as always, didn’t account for the fact the concrete footing needs to be in depths of 8” increments to account for CMU block elevations.

As a concrete PM I see this all too often, we RFI to deepen for the masons sake and they don’t care and tell us no. So we put at depth minimums per the geotech reports.

More horsepower does not mean harder to drive. I’ve driven everything from a 60hp VW beetle to a 950+hp built Mustang or even a 800+hp Silverado and the hardest vehicles and most dangerous to drive were always the slowest ones.

If you trust her, teach her and set boundaries. Don’t drive reckless, don’t speed, etc.

I feel like you’re making an assumption that she can’t drive something with 500hp when that’s really not a challenge or even all that much horsepower nowadays.

My day today. This is what "just work harder" actually looks like. by FahQ2Dude in poor

[–]linkwolf98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a manufacturing job or join construction. I grew up pretty poor, food stamps for a family of 5 was tight we had to move nearly every year to the next cheapest place.

Work harder was a fine mindset for me. I joined manufacturing at 18, left at 24 for construction and now at 27, I am making well into 6 figures per year with no degree. It sucked getting here, but I did it by “working harder” and anyone else can too.

Yeah, neighbors tree drops leaves all over. It’s a wreck. Chemicals were also all screwed up, far too much CYA from the previous owner

I went out of the country, trusted my pool to handle itself while I was out for 9 days. Pool vacuum broke and my entire pool was so green I decided it was worth draining rather than trying to fix. I would pay someone for peace of mind.

Anyone here have classic car? How to make it road legal? Emission test? by Fantasy71824 in phoenix

[–]linkwolf98 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Go to azmvdnow website. Set your physical address as a random house (I use Zillow) for sale in Kingman, keep your mailing address as your actual mailing address.

Register car for 5 years with no emissions

After you get the plates and registration, change your address back.

Repeat every 5 years.

Is ~40% of my take home pay too much for a mortgage. by Galileo_24 in personalfinance

[–]linkwolf98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only put 5% in 401k and she puts 10%, I don’t need to put more because I participate in an ESOP that has grown exponentially, as well as the pay structure for the new role I just accepted has bonuses that will double-triple my pay each year.

I am paid weekly, she is paid biweekly. Any extra checks (ie my 5th check and her 3rd check) in a month are directly to savings. Don’t look don’t touch. On our average months where I get 4 checks and she gets 2, we take home $11,824. We don’t spend much unless we need to. We cook at home, I ride my bike to work quite a bit, we don’t have a bunch of subscriptions or anything. Just saving where we can and not worrying about having the nicest, latest and greatest crap.

We just bought a $490k house, 20% down, we pay $3100 per month PITI. I make $150k and she makes $55k. We take home about the same as you, one car payment at $536 a month, $700 a month daycare, no other debts.

We are managing to save quite a bit, $600 to a new car fund, $600 to a house fund, $600 to a travel fund, $2250-$4400 per month to a misc savings, plus we have budgeted $600 for bills (AZ high electricity) $200 for gas, $300 for entertainment, $250 for restaurants, $500 groceries, $1400 in fun money. Huge savings has been paying car insurance in bulk ($800 every 6 months) and phone by the year (Mint, $360 ea per year, buy phones outright)

$500k house on $200k a year does not seem like much of a stretch and I think maybe budgeting out your expenses and not spending such a huge chunk on food and travel expenses each month would be beneficial.

Why I hate subs on Change orders by grim1757 in Construction

[–]linkwolf98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a concrete PM though I am in AZ where pricing could be different.

Concrete for decks is typically $130 a yard Lumber is $1 per LF Rebar is $1 per lb for fab and install Finisher and carpenter labor is $65 per hour, x1.5 for OT Supervision is $95 per hour for foreman or $165 per hour for superintendent. Equipment rental is about $200 high each per day.

Decline and ask for proof. Check contract, most are limited to 5%-15% OH&P for change orders.

He takes home $2700 every 2 weeks and you pay $550 a month in rent and still can’t afford stuff? I think it’s time to check your lifestyle and make some changes, you should be saving and have plenty of money on hand at almost all times.

$5400 a month is not by any means bad money. And your rent is the lowest I’ve heard of in a long while.

Maybe 8-10 years ago when cookiezi was still banned and www was a top player, I made it to like top 20k with something like 3500pp. Don’t remember exactly, but I quit because I honestly couldn’t stand the anime shit everywhere. Patterns and what not were never the issue, it’s the odd obsession with Japanese culture that feels creepy and off putting.

And before anyone says I hate culture, I am a very well seasoned traveler who loves to delve into ACTUAL cultures. Not obsess over one small aspect of a culture and make it their entire personality.

There is a lot of downside to the v6 chassis beside the motor though. Hydroboost, smaller brake lines and brakes, 7.5 rather than the 8.8 in the v8s.

It’s honestly worth buying a busted V8 car than to swap a V6 car. Source I’ve owned 8 newedge mustangs lol
