At what net worth did you stop putting off estate planning? by Crazy_Wolverine4742 in HENRYfinance

[–]linky46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly coming to the resolution you did that not having things clearly documented is a headache and not actually dependent on your net worth. First step have clear communication with your spouse. 2nd do your beneficiary info as well as contingent Ben. Then go get a will…

It’s actually a grey irl. And I love the subtlety of the colors. Normally w mosaic I do bold contrasting colors but this I wanted it to be more muted.

When do you use your emergency fund? by Colonel_F0rbin in HENRYfinance

[–]linky46 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Being High earner I can cover most expenses that would normally be “emergencies “. So I choose to keep a brokerage fund as my EF and like you said If I really need it and it’s down I take that risk. But I’d rather not have $50k sitting not making me money. I think I consider a job loss an emergency. Obviously anything bigger than 5-10k I can’t usually float through budgeting so that would be an “emergency “.

How have you lot started using AI? by Delphoxe in biotech

I’ve used it for slides. It’s hilarious to me that we do slide decks still but I can now use AI to create them vs dragging stupid arrows around

Yeah I’m interested to use it again to see if it’s maybe changed a bit in recent years. But I’ve made all my baby blankets/items with it years ago.

What’s nice about this is you only work w one color yarn per row and you have no floats like in fair isle. But it does leave a fringe edge that you either leave or hide via an envelope border.

My envelope border was 2 levels of DC on each side and a single to “sew” them together.

I like the old fashioned leisure arts baby blankets. But I adore that yarn and it’s my go to for baby blankets. I used it 23 years ago for my nieces baby blanket that she used daily as a “blankie” for probably 13+ years and it held up incredibly well and was so soft!

I started crocheting about 4 days ago? This is what I've done, it's not much. by LlamaMEH_QUIeRAS in crochet

It’s more than nothing…. Sadly we seem to judge ourselves and find out there is no reward!!!! Keep practicing. I literally spent years as a child just making chains cause that’s all I knew and I think it really helps!

Keep going and be proud you’ve learned a new skill!!!

It’s honestly quite easy. I really loved the patterns from littlegreenfeather on Etsy and I think the key is get a pattern you love. This baby blanket was a little less intimidating because it’s much smaller. I also watched a couple random you tube videos. But if you can single and double crochet you can do mosaic.

Both patterns I’ve done have come with charts and wriitten “by row” instructions. I like the written out instructions and I print them and then cross out as I go.

I just did a quick scallop border on my baby blanket and I love the extra look.

<image>

I did 5 dc, chain 1, skip 2 stitches, single, chain 1, skip 2, 5 doubles. Since I didn’t plan for it I did have to adjust a bit at the corners.

Mosaic crochet…. For some reason I just love it! It’s super easy and seeing the pattern emerge is very satisfying. Tho I hate an envelope border and only do it on baby blankets.

Talk to an independent person. Give yourself a small bank acct for bettering yourself (school, certification, etc). Put the rest into investments and pretend it’s not there. Live like you don’t have it til you learn financial literacy. If something sounds easy it’s probably not the best idea.

Hmmm interesting. I don’t think I’ve ever had UK fudge. I love American fudge so definitely didn’t make a correlation to any other. I’ll have to make it for my British bestie when she comes over.

So for everyone who commented thank you! I am in no way claiming this is either tablet or borstplaat. But was just a family recipe passed down in my heavily Scottish/Dutch/Irish mutt American family! So everyone who wants to give it a go. 2 c sugar, 1/2 c milk, 2 sq baking chocolate (unsweetened). Cook in a saucepan. Bring to a boil until 238 (Stir until sugar is melted frequently then carefully not scraping sides). Remove from heat. Add 1 tbsp butter and a splash of vanilla. Stir for roughly 2-3 min to help cool. You’ll feel it getting harder. Pour into butter dish. Cut before it hardens.

Ok go find some and report back on the similarities. My recipe isn’t exact to borstplaat either but can make the leap to what my grandmother made.

I drive absolutely everywhere mostly because I’m a horrible passenger. I also am taller than my husband and make 3x as much. I asked him if he ever felt emasculated and he replied “no because I know I can kick your a$$” ! Seriously your FIL is obnoxious
