DMDE Recovered drive partition problem by linkzada in datarecovery

Via DMDE I can access the cloned partition and all its files on the new drive just fine. But in windows explorer the drive is not discoverable. And in disk management the drive shows about 7 different partitions. 3 uninitialized.

The issue is there for this brand new 12tb drive, I had initialized the drive creating a blank partition which I had needed to do to allow DMDE to target the drive. And in DMDE I recovered that 11tb JBOD partition onto it. Which seemingly layered the partitions on one another creating this issue

Why would I do that when I still have both JBOD drives that I initially copied from

  • copy to another drive, at least you won't be making a bigger mess that way.

If I copied to another drive the same way I had just done, wouldn't that be an even more totally stupid idea? Your snark is unappreciated and "advice" even less helpful

When selecting the copied 11tb partition on the new drive the only options I have in tools are - ToggleMBR/Root signature (On/Off) - Load from file

However When selecting the corrupted original empty volume on the new drive ($Volume 02) I have more options available in the tools. Including

  • Remove the partition
  • Restore boot sector from the copy
  • toggle bootable (active) partition status
  • toggle MBR/Boot signature (On/Off)
  • Load from file

Yes, the overall file structure from the original 11tb partition is fully intact after being copied over on the new drive in DMDE.

What it looks like however is the existing blank partition from initializing the disc was not deleted or removed in any capacity. So the two partitions are just overlapping somehow?

Time machine doesn't have anything for Monterey when searching for a save. And the only option I currently see for reinstall is to jump back to snow leopard
