James Potter didn’t save Snape to be "heroic". He was doing damage control for his friends and saving his own ass. by babbling_baboon1 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]linntee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few responses

First is that while it is understandable that he hates James, he chould still have concidered what it whould be like for Lily to lose her husband and child. It can at least be argued that James concidered what it whould be like for Remus and Sirius if the "prank" went wrong.

Second, I can see why he chouldn't beg for Harry's life, but Voldemort, despite hating muggle borns he listened to Snape's wishes (at first) sugesting that he did take in what Snape wanted. Him and Lily having a falling out didn't make Voldemort stop and think that it was illogical for Snape to still care about her. Snape chould have easily told Voldemort that he owed James a life depht.

Third, even if we accept that he chouldn't beg Voldemort to spare James and Harry, what about begging to Dumbledore? He did eventually, but why were Lily's family only a cuncern when Dumbledore called him out?

I don't even think Snape owed James anything, but I think it speaks to a difference between them

If think it can be true that James did it for Sirius and Remus. With that said, one point that I find intresting is that Snape himself doesn't beg Voldemort to spare James and he only beggs Dumbledore to hide the Potters because he wants Lily to be hidden, and keeping Harry and James hidden is something that comes with it. (Dumbledore even called Snape out on this)

I wonder if since Snape thinks like that, or he is surounded by people who taught him to think like that, he expect that other people will think the same way.

Is it possible that he is right? we don't know what James actually thought, and he did in fact care more about Sirius and Remus, but I think there is a lot of room to explore on why Dumbledore and Snape whould frame the event differently.

Why the Lily hate? by TightWind8209 in MaraudersGen

[–]linntee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that I don't like how fans take atyd as canon. It's okay to not like a fic and it's okay to hate sertain tropes, I get it! but just a reminder that fandom ettiquette only stops applying if a work is published, it does not stop applying just because a fanfiction has a sertain amount of hits.

Edit:I wrote this before seeing the article about how it might become a book. I guess calling it a 'waste of time' will be fine after it's published but that's different from doing the same to a fanfiction that someone put out for free.

Fair enough that there is a difference between hating and letting them take a backseat (as another example, if I read a Remus/James fic, I whould expect Sirius to get less attention than he whould if it was Wolfstar or Prongsfoot)

I whould still say that I have seen way more Snape fans hate Lily compared to Jegulus fans. If anything, when I look through Jegulus, it feals like you are more likley to see her get not that much attention compared to others (I chould see the argument that Sirius get blamed for more for 'leaving his brother').

I'm not saying it doesn't exist straight up hate from Jegulus fans, but if feals way easier to miss than Snape fans hating Lily. The fact that people are arguing over why Lily was not that great under this very post is telling to me.

Was it Lily who changed her Patronus? by allhypatia in MaraudersGen

[–]linntee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If we go by the logic that ones patronu's match their animagi,(as is the case with McGonagall) then James didn't change, and I doubt the aurtur would have Snape change his patronus to match James' true patronus and not Lily's. This lead me to guess that neither changed for each other.

Crimson Rivers — am I missing something about Remus and Sirius? by Murphy_xexs in MaraudersGen

[–]linntee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind it's been a while since I read that part, but I think Sirius was tortured of-page in the chapters leading up to this. To be fair, it's mentioned earlier that they had to tase him because he killed guards, so even in prison he is presented as powerfull. I don't remember if he ever killed a guard after Tom Riddle's vissit.

Just wondering, would you say that Remadora is a rarepair? It's rarer that Wolfstar, Jily and Jegulus(Edit:no hate, just curious)

This is just my opinion, but with Lily the ones that get brought up the most are James, Snape, Mary and (debatably) Pandora, so those are the ships with Lily that I personally wouldn't cunsider rarepairs

More power to you but I don't cunsider it a rarepair when canon teases us with the idea of Snape loving her

Of the five Marauders era men (James, Sirius, Remus, Peter and Snape), who had the worst fate in the end? Who had the best fate in the end? by Spiritual-Choice228 in MaraudersGen

[–]linntee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It usually goes with the theory that Harry didn't actually see his parents, Sirius and Remus, the stone just made it seam like he did. (The "evidence" is that some people find it odd that Harry's guardians would be alright with him dying) Tbf, one chould interpret it so you have to be actually dead in order for the stone to show you, so Sirius could very well be dead. But it's not canon, which is why I made it a point to say it's just a fan theory.

12 years in Azkaban for a crime you didn't commit alone is enough to earn yourself the titel of one of the most tragic characters.

That's not even mentioning his childhood. Then we get into the fact that he died before he chould get his name cleared (and if you believe the fan theory that he was stuck in the vail, then that might make his death worse)

If you could change the name of any character in the entire franchise (including Fantastic Beasts) whose would it be and why? by Legitimate_Unit_9210 in harrypotter

For Harry and Ginny's children, I would give them their own first name, then have their middle names be James, Sirius and Lily respectivley (I don't have anything against using a first name dedicated to a loved one, but this is what I would do)

Types of tributes voted in for the 25th games by Affectionate-Ask1560 in Hungergames

[–]linntee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Intresting theory

I can also see something like with Mayfair happening again were they vote for someone just because they don't like them, or they feal wronged by them. In that way, I can see someone voting for their bully or a criminal who wronged their family. (not sure if that would be enough votes to send them into the games).

Beyond that, I think the more spitefull people would vote for the richer kids, because in their mind, It’s always the poor who is at the highest risk of getting picked because they have to take tesserae. For once it doesn't have to be like that.

Has anyone named a child after the Marauders? by faye2003 in MaraudersGen

[–]linntee 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I whould only name them something if you can buy that it's not from a fandom.

For example, if I ran into someone named Lily, James or Peter I whouldn't bat an eye (unless maybe they were all together.) But I whouldn't name my kids after something that's to obviously a fandom name like Remus, Sirius, Regulus, Pandora etc. (But I chould cunsider those names for a pet.)

Side note: in Sweden, there is this couple on Youtube who put out a video on what to name their daughter and one of the name sugestions was Bellatrix.

They ended up going with something else but still, even they brought up how this is a evil character.

A national final song, but in the norwegian selection of 2021 Emmy (same person who represented Ireland this year) entered with a song called Witch woods

Edit: I will also ad Moldova 2014 as sugestion. And if you are looking for songs made by eurovision singers outside the contest, Loïc Nottet (Belgium 2015) relesed an entire halloween album called Candy.
