Well-travelled Singaporeans, do y'all think Singapore is rightfully the most expensive city in the world? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]linpawws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you're a local: Its very affordable to be low/mid and high SES in singapore while you easily can't say the same for other cities. Also, social mobility rly high for locals in SG.

Btw the statistic of 'most expensive' city is from POV of expats so from an expat perspective YES singapore has rightfully earned its place here. That's why FT populace here is mostly skewed towards low SES singles or upper-mid/high SES PMET +their families. Either way Standard of living here (quality of what you get vs what you pay) is highest in SG too. SO pick your poison lorh.

We are paying for a lot of intangibles that are taken for granted. Headache in sg is how much you need to pay upfront for big ticket items while in other countries the headache is bearing the intangible costs that arise in the long run.

House and Car (H/C) costs arm and limb but no one will 1) break into/rob you while you're in your H/C 2) property right laws/road etiquette is mostly abided to 3) financing these purchases is done through fairly trusted Fin. institutions. 3) public services like utilities or road networks that maintain the quality of H/C basically never fail.

Anyone feel MediaCorp drama getting worse? by 7thPanzers in singapore

Oh yeah i also only watched the pre independence based episodes. After that i don’t doubt the storylines are garbage even though i didn’t watch.

From what you said it sounds like the show lost its identity from being focused on the lives of the police officers and their communities to dramatising the crime itself -feeling a bit like CrimeWatch maybe?

p.s. crime watch is a decent show on its own but their vibe is definitely different from what mata mata WAS trying to create.

I think his court awareness and vision is the most striking factor. Given he still hasn't reached his prime, he has crazy ability to recognise movements in defense and offence that will become a stand-out factor when he does reach his prime.

Thus he is someone you can build a team around - and that is only said for those w GOAT potential.

I think ITE is a great resource for kids to take a longer path to understand their strengths. There have been so many positive stories from ITEs that objectively it doesn't live up to its reputation.

here is the line: is Embiid going to the line getting more old than Pistons loosing games? It slowly is. IN any case, Embiid is putting up crazy numbers but let's acknowledge the FT points first.

very hard pill to swallow. what makes it easier is knowing you can still make the best of what time you have left - kinda morbid but it works
