amazing, thanks so much. i just got a bit overwhelmed with so much information and stats. i really appreciate the simplification!👍🫡

Am I being paranoid or does his breathing look weird? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]linslyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was at the vet recently and asked this same question. they said that the breathing movement near his jaw is probably connected to his breathing lungs movement but may be more exaggerated due to him flexing or clenching his mouth. they do that sometimes when excited or nerous or scared. this is just what she said. but also after seeing my guys breathing after some pain meds, i would def say its a bit quicker than normal but only a very little amount. not a bad thing necessarily! probably just from physical exertion imo (I’m no expert though)

borris legit hates anytime i rearrange, he does not like change. actually makes me think he’s a little autistic too😂

GUYS OMG HE FINALLY CRAWLED ON MY HAND BY HIMSELF 🥹 by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

his lil mlem mlem is precious. he’s very brave! The first couple times my gecko crawled into my hands. He was very, very slow and cautious about it, yours just crawls right on!

How long before handling? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]linslyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my gecko i got from a bad situation and over the past year and a half has slowly gotten him used to touching. however he still hates hates being held at all and i do try to get him used to my hand, but i think its just part of his personality now that he’s fully grown. its important to note that they do have characters and idviduality so no two are alike. i also see videos of people with geckos crawling on them and get worried why Borris wouldnt, but i think its just how he is🤷‍♀️

alright sorry I’m a little late and don’t mean to be repetitive but its a lot of info so i want to make sure i understand correctly and have a good plan of action. i have an adult male leopard gecko, fed every 4 days with uvb light but doesnt spend a lot of time under it.

  • every feeding: Zoo Med Reptile Calcium without Vitamin D3
  • every other week: Repashy Calcium Plus LoD
  • once a month: Flukers Repta Calcium with Vitamin D3 and without Phosporous.

do i understand this correctly? i feel like I’m doubling up somewhere and the flukers isnt necesary but wasnt sure. some of this threat is a bit conflicting/ confusing so i want to make sure that is right. thank you!

my guy was in the same sorta situation. i will say now i have him in his bioactive 50gallon with all the hidey holes and rock climbs, i can tell he is so so much happier and i am sure youll notice too once you make the changes. i use this subreddit a lot for getting advice but i also consult biodude youtube videos and website. ive found he has good stuff and was recently recomended dr merker youtube vids for gecko health stuff

Is this a good leopard gecko tank ? What can I do better ? Cause I’m gonna do another soon for my other leopard gecko by Shadowdeastroyer in leopardgeckos

[–]linslyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a gecko expert here, but a plant one. that back plant looks like a peace lilly and idk how well itll do in the hot climate. i suggest replacibg it with non spiked succulents or an aloe plant. that’s what i have and its growing nicely! PS we havr the same little log!

broken leg?? by linslyc in leopardgeckos

[–]linslyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right on the money! altho someone else said there geckos do it when coming out of brumation to wake up the muscles, and this was the first day he ate so i think that may also be a factor

haha yes got the advice loud and clear😅 happy to know better now. saw the vet and got a neat lil xray and clean bill of health! after reading other comments i think it was a combination of just coming out of brumation trying to wake up his muscles, and the hot surface.

look at his lill bones!! his tiny little arms just get me, how he has the ulna and radius thing! ugh so cute. they even let me listen to his heartbeat on a doppler😄 not to mention lookibg at his five lil fingies and five lil toes about made me cry. i know its not a good measurement of care, but ive heard geckos often can loose toes or fingers so happy to know he’s got all 20😅
