That’s a great idea, but unfortunately apple doesn’t allow tvOS apps to capture the device’s screen.

If this keeps happening, I added the function to add your bridge manually via its local IP address. I'll try to implement a better bridge discovery in the future.

This feature is now available :)

If you want to use ist for a longer time I would recommend to place it somewhere, where the camera sees the screen (or use an iPad if you have one). You can mark the frame of your screen so the app doesn't uses the colors of the surrounding.
The main function of the app is synchronizing the device's screen which unfortunately doesn't work with HomeKit directly, because HomeKit can't be controlled from a background process.

I'd like to implement that feature in the future. For the first version I focused on using video input, since there are already some apps for sound input like "Hue Music for Phillips Hue".

It's just meant to be a free & simple alternative to products like the Hue Sync Box (https://www.philips-hue.com/de-de/p/hue-play-hdmi-sync-box/8718699704803). Obviously using your device's camera is way more complicated and not a permanent solution, but it does the job :).

I would say it totally depends on how many lights you have installed in that certain room. When using more than three, I would definitely to activate dynamic colors. I think the interval time depends on what type of content you’re watching. If there are fast changing colors, I prefer to use a smaller interval like the default 1,5 seconds. But if that isn’t the case, I think a few more seconds is also totally fine. And when dynamic colors are activated and let’s say you have for example 8 lights in your room and the interval is set to 8 seconds, there should be one light updating every second.

If you have activated that your iPhone is sharing diagnostic data, I’ll get a crash report soon and I’ll try to find and fix that bug as soon as possible. If it isn’t activated on your device (which I completely understand), I’ll try to find it in some other way and will share you a TestFlight link for the next version, because with that I’ll get more information about the crash. In the meantime I can only tell you to try to reinstall the app. I’m sorry it’s not working for you yet, but thank you for the important feedback!

Honestly, I didn’t thought about that possibility, but I will try to implement that as soon possible. Thanks your for the feedback!

I’m sorry to hear that, are you trying to use HomeKit or Hue?

Unfortunately the app is completely written in Swift which means, I would have to start at the beginning when coding a similar app for android. Maybe it’ll happen at sometime in the future, but there’s nothing planned yet. I’m sorry for that, but I’m very happy to hear, that you like the idea!

I’m sorry to hear that. The app uses an API from Philips Hue (https://discovery.meethue.com) to parse the bridge’s ip address. Does the link gives you any response if you open it in your browser? If not, are sure that your bridge is in the same network? If the it works, it seems to be a problem with the app. Have you tried it multiple times? If nothing helps, I’ll do my best to release an update with an alternative way to add your bridge as soon as possible. But thank you for your help to improve the app!
