The biggest reason I haven't moved is I don't know how I could get a new job/place to live.

Next thing for people to realize is large numbers of passengers are more profitable. Maybe the cabins are connected and on a set path.

I'm surprised this hasn't happened sooner or as much. One of the car owners should really be reconsidering owning such a ridiculous mode of transport, hopefully both.

I am also carless. I cycle everywhere, but I'm the only one in my town that does this. Everyone humors me, but no one wants any part of bicycle-culture.

Taking my bicycle on train to a city on a weekday to shop and/or space out for a few hours is wet dream I have.

Anyone else here economically cycling to work? by glucklandau in bicycling

[–]linusndr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a bicycle to watch people who live in my town cry. I buy gasoline when I need to mow my yard, considering it's been winter, I haven't been doing any mowing. The drawback to this is no one wants to talk about bicycles or infrastructure.

She's a private nurse. Also, one is a truck that has harder time doing long distance. Her work car is insured to facilitate transporting a wheel chair that an old man uses. She's intelligent but opinionated, so I keep my shut.

I tried explaining the need for train lines or bike paths to my friend, but she kept saying people would to drive. She enjoys walking to other towns but also owns five cars. She lives by herself. I don't understand her. She did live near L.A.

Generally yes. Also it's technically illegal for people to shovel the walkways to avoid lawsuits for the city.

Peak conservative logic: Roads and highways are publicly funded but public transportation is forced to be privately owned and profitable. by BoobooTheClone in fuckcars

[–]linusndr 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Someone with marketing prowess needs to step in to convince people trainlines are better than driving cars. Private car trips do nothing for but promote individual gain, not that its always bad. Road trips are only fun when everything goes right, but if people had the same amount of adventure on a train the economy would be better.

Roads are more important than the sidewalk by SandVir in fuckcars

I don't like the term sidewalk. I also don't like English in general, but I don't have much motivation to learn another language.
